price1234By Adam Mccoy: Liverpool is in for a treat on June 26th when David Price will return home for his first bout in the UK for almost two years. Price was considered to be a true heavyweight contender and a potential threat to the kiltschko era before suffering consecutive KO defeats to Tony Thompson. The first fight left many unanswered questions due to the nature of the ending.

The rematch was arranged in the same venue and to answer the critics who claimed “lucky punch” Thompson showed just how wrong every one truly was. Price managed to score a knockdown but made the mistake of going for the knockout instantly. We then all realized how bad his flaws really are. He spent one round trying so bad to score a knockout he totally gassed himself out. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a bad display of stamina, even if Price never went for the instant KO after Thompson got back to his feet it was only a matter of time. He wasn’t built or prepared for 12 round and surely it’s a good thing this flaw has been found sooner rather than later.

After a total change from promotion company’s to trainer price has won 4 consecutive fights. He will now attempt to get his name back out there by returning home and challenging for European title against undefeated heavyweight Erkan Teper. This is a extremely big fight for Price as the European title is a step in the right direction and will certainly continue to help his reputation rebuilding process. I am a big David Price fan and wish him all the best. He has the build and power to be a top heavyweight and the fact he has been under the radar for a while can only work in his favor. A win for Price and a successful title defence should help him back up the rankings and hopefully we can start seeing his name up there again with British rival Tyson Fury.

Also on the card Tony Bellow will be having his fourth fight in the cruder weight division against Czech Lubos Suda. Tony is a reformed fighter and cruiserweight with four consecutive wins, his last against long time rival Nathan Cleverly. Eddie Hearn is hoping to get Tony in the ring later in the year against IBF champion Yoan Hernandez. A slip up here could damage any chances Bellew has of finally winning a world championship.

My favorite fight on the card seen Callum Smith face Christopher Rebrasse. A win for Callum will surely put him in position for a final eliminator. Eddie Hearn has said Callum is ready for a world title fight right now. Callum comes from a huge boxing family in the Smith’s and he’s been helping brother Paul spar for Andre Ward. George Groves beat Rebrasse on points last year in an absolute war. Nothing Groves done was affecting Rebrasse and it was amazing to see the punishment he could take. If Smith could score a knockout in this fight it would really send a statement out. I personally see Callum Smith beating everyone from Britain in his weight class right now except Carl Froch. Callum Smith is special and I believe he’s a step up in class to the likes of Groves and Degale.

This looks to be a fantastic card in Liverpool and hopefully all three men can come out victorious. Thanks for your time and please feel free to comment and share your predictions.
