Aftermath Mayweather vs. Pacquiao

1-05-6By John Simmons: Where on earth is Manny Pacquiao? This a good question after months of ridicule towards Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the constant selfies, Instagram updates and talking about Floyd to a point where it was becoming comical.

Manny was seen running in crowded areas doing his famous speed shadow spar and the fans were all over it with he is too fast he looks great Floyd is done and dusted.

From the walk to the stadium he was smiling loudly and dancing taking selfie pictures from the walk entrance and lapping up every fans admiration for him on the way to the ring. What happened next was anyone’s guess but in Manny and team Pacquiao’s mind he was ready to explode on Floyd Mayweather.

The gospel was written on his facebook pages and twitter the glory was to god was made clear, Floyd Mayweather was also invited to bible study after the fight so he could be humbled. The anticipation was too much and when the final bell rang Manny and Floyd met in the middle of the ring.

After a clear 1st round where Floyd showed his speed in the form of a great jab he also showed his evasive skills were on spot moving every time Manny stepped forward, at times it almost looked like Manny had no idea how to close distance against Mayweather. After some great moments and some slopping exchanges we had a clear winner in the form of Floyd Mayweather.

What happened next was odd to say the least after Mayweather spent his victory speech thanking his team and telling how special of fighter Manny is heaping him with enormous praise the microphone was handed to Manny himself and this is where it got weird.

Manny forgot to thank God or his team for the build up and failed to acknowledge Mayweather as the victor Manny said he thought he won the fight and he did enough, after Max Kellerman the HBO ring interviewer told Manny no one else agreed they all had him losing Manny disagreed opting again to say Margarito and Cotto both hit harder than Mayweather and Floyd didn’t hurt him once but he hurt Floyd many times.

There were no thanks to his team or the fans that came from far and wide to attend and also watch the fight on Pay per view. This was a man that just earned 80 million dollars or more from a fight where he walked away generally unscathed. During the fight there was no sign of injury and certainly no mention of any sort after the fight, but at the post fight presser Manny Pacquiao’s team scrambled to have their interview before Mayweather got there something odd considering the enormity of the occasion.

With most other fights we see the two teams sit down and go over the post fight thought together and give there thanks and respect to the other fighter and fans as a show of sportsmanship even in bad cases of hatred the two men will leave there animosity in the ring and show respect after the fight. This was different though Manny spent his after fight speech with Kellerman saying he won the fight and then at the post fight presser Team Pacquiao spent the time talking about a shoulder injury Manny sustained two weeks out from the fight that he said reoccurred in the 3rd round of the fight.

At points in the presser team Pacquiao looked somewhat irritated understandably they lost the fight but being a humble human being and a god fearing religious man Manny seemed to be rather uncomfortable in is his own persona. Then in baffling circumstances team Pacquiao seemed to be surprised as Floyd Mayweather approached them and immediately stop talking and proceeded to leave the building as Floyd Mayweather and Leonard Ellerby looked bewildered that the presser had started before they got there.

Since the beginning there has been strain on who is the lead promoter in this affair which was clearly stated in the contract as being Mayweather Promotions however if Top Rank felt they were not getting a fair shake then as per the contract Les Mooves had the final say and his word was binding. In order to have Moonves involved Top Rank only had to disagree and tell Moonves they felt left out and his decision would be final. With the fight now a distant memory I am not sure there will ever be a rematch. Floyd was not happy giving Manny 40% before this fight and after a clear victory I am not sure he will so accommodating again, then there is the fact that Top Rank and the MGM grand are again at loggerheads and with the way things fell apart in this fight Mayweather promotions may never entertain another Top Rank co-promotion again.

Since the ring entrance selfies Manny has gone completely quiet, His instagram, facebook and twitter accounts have been surprising quiet since the beginning of the fight something we haven’t seen since November 2014, is this the way a man that believes he won decisively acts? You tell me.
