Floyd Mayweather Work Out for the PressBy TS123169: With today’s technology and the multitude of websites dedicated to Boxing, there have probably been more articles written about the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. – Manny Pacquiao fight than any other fight in history. And, for better or for worse, along with these articles come the hundreds of comments from fans all around the world.

To those posting their comments, I say this: it’s okay to support your favorite fighter, but if you’re not a fan of the sport as a whole then your opinion doesn’t really carry any weight.

If you’re a Mayweather fan, can you admit that Pacquiao has a chance of winning this fight? If you’re a Manny fan, can you admit that Mayweather has a chance of winning this fight? If not, then you’re not a true fan of the sport itself. The great thing about boxing is that one punch can change everything, and when two of the best fighters of this generation finally meet in the ring, anything can happen.

When I was growing up, I was a Lakers fan and I idolized Magic Johnson, but I gave full credit and respect to Jordan and the Bulls. I’m a Wolverines fan, but I can’t deny the talent of the Buckeyes. I was also a huge fan of Arturo Gatti, because he had heart and I admire that, but I never once said he had anything more than a punchers chance of beating Mayweather. Why? Because whether its basketball or football or boxing, I’m a fan of the sport first.

Regardless of which fighter you support, it’s okau to admit the other has a chance of winning this fight. Admitting it doesn’t diminish your support; it shows your appreciation, love and knowledge for the sport itself. And let’s be honest, no matter who wins this fight, the excuses will come from every direction and “the best ever” debate will never end anyway.

In the end, the only guarantee in boxing is that there is no guarantee. And it’s ok to admit it.
