Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: For whom the Bell tolls on May 2nd?

1-12By Yannis Mihanos: This Saturday night Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will facing each other in their long-awaited mega-fight on May 2nd in front of a sold-out crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The way I see the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight initially going is like this: In round 1, the bell rings, Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs) enters the ring like a rampaging bull, while Mayweather stands back and takes his favorite defensive position waiting to hit and run.

For whom the bell tolls on May the 2nd? You all know the answer.

Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26 KOs) is an American fighting on home ground in his 2nd home at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will be shown on pay-per-view on HBO and Showtime for the price of $89.95 or $99.95.

Still, not very friendly reception is expected there for him this time. This time the public knows who the real champ is and the name that will be heard throughout the match will be no other than that of Pacquiao:

Manny, Manny will be heard over and over again.

Mayweather is feeling now the pressure more than ever. Never before he had to stand next to an icon, a man who represents the good in all of us.

“This is God’s will, God will hand him [Mayweather] to me,” Pacquiao said. In yesterday’s final press conference at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Pacquiao suggested that he and Floyd should sit down together after the fight and discuss about how to help the world.

I find this a wonderful idea.

We all know how rich Floyd Mayweather is, together with Manny they could do great things. They could even fight for a second time and give all the money for charity purposes.

It would be also a fitting end to Mayweather’s career who says that he will retire after September.

It wouldn’t hurt a bit Mayweather’s wallet except of course his inflated ego, the one that says I’m great and I will keep it all for myself.

I really hope Pacquiao beats Mayweather and humbles him a bit so after they could become friends and together take some useful action.
