floyd77By Chris Williams: At today’s conference call for Floyd Mayweather Jr., he revealed what his plan is for his mega-fight against Manny Pacquiao in 10 days from now on May 2nd. Mayweather says his game plan is a simple one. He’s going out and he’s going to win the fight.

There’s nothing complicated about what Mayweather plans on doing. He doesn’t need some ‘special plan’ for him to beat Pacquiao. Mayweather comes up with his game plans on the fly based on what’s going on in the ring. He’s not Pacquiao, who is dependent on his trainer Freddie Roach to come up with the ideal game plan for him to win.

Mayweather is so brilliant at making adjustments in each round depending on what his opponent does in the ring, and frees him from needing advice from trainers like other fighters.

Here’s some of the quotes from today’s conference call:

“I know it’s the biggest fight in boxing history, but I’m not going to put that pressure on myself. I will be at my best,” Mayweather said. “At the end of the day it comes down to the two fighters in the ring, not what Freddie Roach says or thinks. My only job is to be the best, to be the best in the sport of boxing.”

Roach has taken it upon himself to do a lot of the trash talking to help promote interest in the fight. Unfortunately, he’s taken some vicious shots at Mayweather in doing so.

Some of the stuff that Roach has said has come completely from left field such as Mayweather not having learned how to fight the right way. Roach has even gone after Mayweather’s father/trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. This is why Mayweather Jr. stressed the fact that Roach isn’t the one he’ll be fighting on May 2nd, Pacquiao is. Roach won’t be in the ring with Pacquiao if/when things start to unravel for him, and he won’t be able to give any advice until after the rounds end. So what we could see is Pacquiao lost during the course of some of these rounds due to him not knowing potentially what adjustments that need to be made.

“I’ve always had a big mouth and I’m not being quiet or holding back for any reasons, but that I’ve matured,” Mayweather said. “I done all the trash talking already. I am at a point where I know what I bring to the table. It’s just a fight to me. He got to this point by doing something right. I have to respect that.”

Mayweather definitely doesn’t do much trash talking nowadays like he did in the past. He’s so popular now that he doesn’t need to trash talk like he did in the past. His name sells his fights without him needing to destroy his opponents by trash talking them before his fights.

“I’ve been in this sport so long that I can read a fighter’s body language and read a fighter’s eyes,” Mayweather said. “Everyone is asking me what my game plan is. My game plan is to win. That’s it. He’s one of the last good fighters of this era so the fight had to happen. I’m glad it’s happening.”

Mayweather’s ability to read the body language of his opponents and study their eyes has always enabled him to know exactly when his opponents were about to let their hands go. Mayweather knows when a fighter is tiring, and when they’re to be taken out. He can see all of that just by looking at them. What Mayweather lacks in terms of his physical tools, he makes up for with his genius in analyzing his opponents.
