Ellerbe: I know everything that’s happening at Pacquiao’s camp

pac137By Raj Parmar: Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe is certain that Manny Pacquiao is feeling nervous as his showdown with pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. quickly approaches for their fight this Saturday night on May 2nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ellerbe points to the fact that Manny will be skipping the customary grand arrival ceremony at the MGM Grand as a sign that the “Pacman” is not ready for an event of such high magnitude.

“The spectacle, the magnitude of this event is something Manny has never been through before,” Ellerbe stated to sports.yahoo.com, “He’s been in a lot of big fights, but there are big fights and there is a Floyd Mayweather fight. There are obligations you have and things you have to do when you’re in an event of this magnitude that he hasn’t had to do before. He’s not fighting no Chris Algieri now. This is a whole new ballgame.”

Leonard thinks that the reason Manny may be feeling stressed out is due to the fact that he did not have a strong training camp. Manny’s trainer Freddie Roach has tried to keep very private gym sessions for Pacquiao in order to not let out their game plan for Floyd but Ellerbe is insistent that he knows full well about all the details going on in Pacquiao’s training.

“Freddie Roach thinks he runs a tight camp, but I know everything that’s happening there, ” Ellerbe said, “I heard it’s been a very rough camp. And now, I think it’s dawning on Manny Pacquiao exactly what he’s up against.”

There had been rumblings early on in Manny’s camp that he had been suffering from leg cramps, sluggishness and bad sparring sessions. A lot of it was just rumors with nothing substantiated and Roach has praised Manny’s intensity and conditioning as camp comes down to a close.

Whether Ellerbe really has any inside information on Pacquiao’s training is anybody’s guess, but at the very least he’s trying to gain a psychological advantage for Floyd with the fight just a mere week away.
