beterbiev1022By Sebastian Mora: This is the second mailbag. I answered 5 questions this time, if your opinion or question is not here I will try my best to answer it on the next Boxingnews24 knockout mailbag.

Kelly: I have seen  your article regarding Artur Beterbiev. I agree with most of what you said. I only have one question.

What would Eleider Alvarez do that other opponents have not done? I feel that hes overrated, has conditioning problems, and does not have the best technique. I think Cloud and Campillo (Sorry if I dont spell his name correctly) are still better than Eleider Alvarez. If I was Beterbiev manager, I would be trying to put him against Pascal or Chilemba!

Sebastian: I think Eleider Alvarez would bring youth, freshness, and enough hungriness to stay there for more than 5 rounds and make Beterbiev work. What most people do not understand is that I NEVER said Eleider would beat Beterbiev. What I said is that I don’t think Beterbiev is ready for Stevenson or Kovalev, and I think Eleider Alvarez could be a fight that would make Beterbiev think and work a little bit more. I still think the Russian stops the Colombian within 10 rounds, but I would love to see how Beterbiev looks against an opponent that is just as hungry as him, with decent skills, speed and power. I think Eleider Alvarez would beat the Tavoris Cloud that fought Beterbiev. I don’t believe that he would beat him as easy as the Russian did. The same thing goes for Gabriel Campillo.
I would try to put him against Pascal as well. However you have to remember that Pascal already fought a lot of dangerous opponents and came up short against most of them. I don’t think he would want to take the Beterbiev fight, not because he’s scared but because it does not make business since for Pascal at the moment. As for Chilemba, I do not think he would last more than 6 rounds against the Russian Beterbiev. Like I said Beterbiev Vs Alvarez is the most logical fight for both prospects right now.

Scott:  Hey man I have enjoyed reading your articles. I just have a quick question regarding your Amir Khan’s Article.

You stated that he would beat Brook but loose to Thurman. Can you explain why? I believe that Brook is the more skilled fighter. I see some big flaws in Thurman’s game that would make things much easier for Khan if he decided to box.

Sebastian: The reason why I picked Khan to beat Brook is for the simple reason the Brook is a boxer that likes to box. I don’t believe he has the same power that Garcia and Prescott had when they fought Khan. If you look at Thurman, he might have some technical flaws but he has the in and out kind of style that just makes things  harder for a boxer like Khan. Sure he makes a lot of mistakes that Khan would exploit, but it was the same thing with Garcia. Every time Garcia would make a mistake Khan would make him pay, up until he got caught by that big left hook. Now if Khan got caught by Garcia, what makes you think that he won’t get caught by Thurman? Also, Thurman has more power than Garcia. The thing about boxing is that styles make fights and that is the beauty of our sport.

EX. I see Thurman stopping Khan, Khan beating Brook easier than what many think, and if a fight between Brook and Thurman was to happen I wouldn’t be surprised if Brook took a decision.

CubanPride: Who do you think would win?
Rigo vs Morales @ 122
Lomachenko vs Walters @ 126

Lara vs Andrade @ 154
GGG vs Lara @ 160
GGG vs Ward @168
Ward vs Kovalev @ 175
Ward vs Stevenson @ 175
Chavez Sr vs Pacquiao @ 130

Sebastian: Rigo vs Morales: I see this fight going two ways. If Rigo lets Morales touch him like Roberto Marroquin and Hisashi Amagasa did, I think the Mexican would stop Rigo within 10 rounds. However, If Rigo fights how he fought the then rated #5 P4p fighter Nonito Donaire, I see him winning a hard fought UD.

Lomanchenko vs Walters: Lomachenko UD.

Lara vs Andrade: This is a 50/50 fight in my opinion. However, I see Andrade taking a SD or a MD, due to Lara’s style sometimes it is hard to score rounds in his favor.

GGG vs Lara: GGG 10rd TKO.

GGG vs Ward: This fight in my opinion is a 50/50 fight. Many people think Golovkin would be easy work for Ward because of his aggressive style. What many people fail to realize is that Golovkin is not a Mexican type of aggressive guy. This guy comes from Eastern Europe. He knows more than to only come forward and throw punches. He knows how to cut the ring off, how to block small punches, has a decent inside game, and most importantly has devastating power. I think Ward would win a hard fought SD. However, I would not be surprised if Golovkin happened to stop Ward.

Ward vs Kovalev: Another 50/50 fight. Wild prediction: Ward by UD.
Ward vs Stevenson: Ward by UD.
Chavez Sr vs Pacquiao: Chavez Sr by 11 round TKO.

Gabriel: Hey Sebastian did you watch PBC last weekend? What did you think of  the two fights? and the presentation as whole?

Sebastian: I did watch both of the PBC  matches. I thought the fights were really competitive, and what I liked the most is that all 4 fighters wanted to win!
The Quillin vs Lee fight I thought Quillin did enough to win. However, a draw was also a fair result. I think both fighters showed that they can hurt each other, the fight in my opinion would of been easier for Quillin if he would of thrown more punches. At the end of the day I am just a writer and he is the fighter. If he fought that way is because he thought that was the correct game plan.
Garcia vs Peterson: I truly agree with the decision. As much as I like Peterson and would want to say that  he boxed beautifully in the 1st half of the fight I have to admit the boxing is HIT and not get hit. If you are only trying to not get hit, you are not boxing. The 2nd half of the fight Peterson showed that he was the better boxer and also the better fighter. In my opinion it was too late, if Peterson would of started 1 or 2 rounds earlier, I believe he would of taken the decision.

What do I think of PBC as a whole? I understand the criticism of some fans when it comes to the entrances, the announcers, and the commentators. However, I think this is just what boxing needs. If you look at other sports, they are mainstream because a commission makes sure that the shows and the athletes never get out of line. I see PBC trying to eliminate all the unnecessary things that go on in a boxing show in order for the sport to get more attention from the young fans.  The commentators I think have A LOT of work to do.

Vladimir: Who do you think will win btw Ruslan and Matthysse? and why?

I hate to choose a winner for this fight because of how tight it will be. However, since you are asking for a prediction I will give it to you.
Lucas Mathysse by 12 round TKO.
