Amir Khan thinks Boxing is a popularity sport!

khan88By Danny Esch: Let me start off by saying I don’t think any boxer as of late has made more fans angry than Amir Khan all within one week. Amir Khan has single-handedly made not only casual boxing fans angry but some of his own fans have voiced their anger at Amir’s decision making.

It all started with a war of words between Amir Khan and his U.K. rival Kell Brook about a potential fight between the two fighters. Amir Khan chose to bash Kell Brook about his fights, boxing record, and financial status and also Brook’s most recent fight against Jo Jo Dan.

Amir Khan was quoted by FIGHTHYPE.com as saying:

“Like I said, this Algieri fight, if it happens, it’s making me a lot of money; money that Kell Brook’s not seen. That’s why he’s probably dying. Amir’s making millions when he’s not even seen his first million.”

“Look, do I need the fight against Kell Brook? I make a lot of money regardless if I fight Kell Brook. I will make a lot of money in this sport and I’ve made a lot of money in this sport of boxing. Kell Brook needs me to make that big money. Without me, he’ll never make that big money. Even if we get beat by him,(Brook) we still make a lot of money.”

I guess now we can call Khan Amir “Money Man” Khan because as far as he is concerned now he is in the sport to make the most profit possible. I believe the real Khan has come out now because Kell Brook and many fans have gotten under his skin. What I am shocked about is how oblivious Khan is to the reason why fans are angry at him when he was the one who came out on social media and declared that he would be fighting Chris Algieri. In an interview with FIGHTHYPE Amir Khan is quoted as saying:

YouTube video

“First of all, the fight with Algieri is not confirmed yet. Even if it was, I can’t believe the people who are talking [expletive.”

In my opinion I am very surprised by these remarks from Amir Khan because I thought he was a cool respectable (Former) champion and I am a fan and now that we the fans question your decision to fight a C- class fighter you become angry? To the fans that don’t like to research these fighters Chris Algieri is really a “Green” type of fighter as far as to the elite, big stage level of competitive elite boxers. Just looking at Algieri’s resume the majority of his fights were in Long Island New York against local talent and no-name fighters which shows why he was “undefeated” for so long.

The point is Chris Algieri isn’t “Undefeated” against the likes of Maidana, Thurman, Broner, Garcia, Peterson, Alexander, Bradley, Marquez, PACQUIAO and the list goes on but the names on his resume are Acuna, Amaoutis, Peralta Alejo, Tovar, Mathis, Smith, Jargal, just to name a few. Amir Khan believes boxing is a popularity sport were the guy with the most Twitter and Face Book fans gets the fights or in Chris Algieri’s case a guy who who fought Manny Pacquiao and Manny Pacquiao won the fight and it gave him a shot at Floyd Mayweather.

The Sweet Science that is boxing has never ever been a Face Book and Twitter popularity sport because years ago social media didn’t exist the BEST just fought the BEST. In my opinion and I may speak for some fans is, the reason why we have just hit the roof in anger of Amir Khan is because of his mouth. I have seen countless videos of Amir Khan just rambling on and on saying ‘No One wants to get in the ring with Amir Khan’ and ‘I have the fastest hands at 1 4 7 and nobody wants to challenge me’ and yet all of the “threats” at 1 4 7 are not even given the shot. I believe Amir Khan is strategically taking the easiest road possible at this moment because time is running out for a Floyd Mayweather fight and Amir would rather sit on the sidelines or fight a light puncher that won’t place him in harm’s way of taking another loss which would derail his chances at Mayweather.

At this point Amir Khan is just as bad with his contradictory statements and “money” talk as Adrien Broner and Floyd Mayweather only difference though I have never heard the latter say ‘Anyone who has a problem with my choice I don’t know why they are talking [expletive] (Just Saying).’
