Jeff Mayweather: This isn’t the same old Floyd, he’s a beast!

Floyd Mayweather(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr totally dominated former two division world champion Zab Judah during their sparring session, says his trainer Jeff Mayweather. Judah and Mayweather sparred for three rounds in which all three minutes of each round were totally dominated by Mayweather.

It got so bad that Judah stopped throwing punches after the 2nd round, because he didn’t know what to do. Jeff says that Mayweather wound up giving Judah a beating during the session.

Judah is one of many sparring partners that are helping Mayweather out to get him ready for his May 2nd fight against Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather has been bringing in southpaw sparring partners to help him get ready for Pacquiao’s southpaw style.

Mayweather also has DeMarcus Corley, a big punching southpaw with power similar to Pacquiao. Corley doesn’t have Pacquiao’s hand speed, but his power is on the same level as Pacquiao’s power right now.

“Just beat the (bleep) out of him,” Jeff Mayweather said via Mlive.com. “He beat Judah so bad, Judah was scared to let his hands go. The kids, early in camp, they don’t care that he’s Floyd Mayweather. They want to prove something. They’ve proved something, all right. They’re getting destroyed. He’s annihilating everybody. He’s a beast. This isn’t the same old Floyd.”

Mayweather is a “beast,” Jeff said. That sounds like he’s going to be going for the kill on May 2nd. When Mayweather goes into the beast mode, he’s out to hurt someone. Pacquiao better think of a good plan-B he can use on May 2nd, because if he comes out fighting aggressively with his typical straight ahead fighting style, he’s going to get chopped down.

This is really bad news for Pacquiao, because he’s hoping that he’ll have an edge against Mayweather on May 2nd, and that it’ll be the same Mayweather that fought against the ropes against Marcos Maidana in their fight last year. That’s not going to happen though. Mayweather is training hard and he’s going to give Pacquiao a much different look for this fight, and I do see it going well for Pacquiao.

Mayweather says he has around 14 sparring partners in his camp, and those guys are all getting Mayweather ready for this fight. With that many sparring partners, Mayweather is going to cover all possible angles that Pacquiao can use for this fight. There won’t be anything that Mayweather won’t have covered.

It sounds like Mayweather is being more aggressive in this camp than he has in the past. He doesn’t normally obliterate his sparring partners like this, but that he’s doing it now tells you that he means business. It doesn’t sound like Mayweather will be giving Pacquiao a handicap like he’s done with some of his other opponents he’s fought.

Mayweather is going to give Pacquiao 100 percent of his game on May 2nd, and it’s going to be up to Pacquiao to show that he can hang with him. I don’t think he’s going to be able to unless he improves dramatically over the Pacquiao we’ve seen in his recent fights against Chris Algieri, Tim Bradley and Brandon Rios.

“He doesn’t have to say anything,” Jeff said. “All that (B.S.) has been going on for five years. It’s fight time now.”
