Deontay Wilder ready to defeat Wladimir Klitschko

deontay73By Scott Gilfoid: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KOs) feels he’s ready to defeat IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (63-3, 53 KOs) and take the big 6’6” Ukrainian fighter’s four world titles.

Wilder notes that Wladimir is older now and he’s ready be picked off. Wladimir will be turning 39-years-old this month on March 25th, and by the time Wladimir and Deontay face each other in 2016, Wladimir will likely be 40-years-old. Deontay will be hitting his stride while Wladimir will likely be showing more age.

“I am the guy that can beat Klitschko; I definitely don’t think it; I am the guy that will beat him,” Deontay said via Thaboxingvoice.com. “I am only getting better. The thing about Klitschko is that he’s not going to change up anything. He’s going to stay the same.”

Wladimir will need to win two more fights before he and Wilder can face each other in 2016. Wladimir has a fight next month on April 25th against American Bryant Jennings (19-0, 10 KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Wladimir should get through that fight based on size alone. After that fight, Wladimir will likely be fighting unbeaten British heavyweight Tyson Fury later this year unless Wladimir requests an extension from the World Boxing Organization in order for Wladimir to take a voluntary defense against one of the many contenders that are waiting for title shots against Wladimir.

Deontay worked as a sparring partner to help Wladimir get ready for his title defense against the 6’8” Mariusz Wach three years ago in 2012. It is unclear how well Deontay did in his sparring with Wladimir, but what we do know is that Deontay was quickly promoted to Wladimir’s No.1 sparring partners due to his skills, speed and punching power.

Wladimir would up sparring with Wilder more than anyone else, and the two of them ended up learning about each other’s boxing style.

“I’m 10 times better than when we first sparred,” Wilder said. Everything I’ve done, I’ve gotten better at it, and I still have room to increase and improve. He’s older. Now he is a family man…I’m definitely confident in me being the victor in that fight, hands down.”

There’s no question that Wilder has improved immensely since the time he was sparring Wladimir. You can see that in watching how good Wilder looked last January when he took the WBC heavyweight title off of Bermane Stiverne in beating him by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision.

Back when Wilder was sparring Wladimir, Wilder was fighting guys like Damon McCreary, Kelvin Price, Kertson Manswell, Owen Beck, Jesse Oltmanns and Marlon Hayes.

Wilder still hadn’t developed his powerful left hook and ramrod jab back then. If you look at how Wilder fought against Stiverne and compare it how he looked against the above mentioned fighter, there’s really no comparison. They look like totally difference fighters. Wilder has gotten so much better, and he’s a lot more dangerous now than he was back then.

I think Wilder will KO Wladimir when he gets him inside the ring without oversized gloves and head gear to protect Wladimir.
