Mayweather Sr expects Mayweather-Pacquiao fight to get made

mayweather111222By Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Sr, the father/trainer for WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (47-0, 26 KOs), believes that the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight will get made. He sees it being a situation where the huge money involved will make it impossible for the fight not to get made.

It goes without saying that he thinks his son Mayweather Jr will have no problems beating the 36-year-old Filipino fighter and sending him down to defeat once again.

“To me it makes no difference but I think the fight is going to take place,” Mayweather Sr. said via Hustleboss. “Otherwise, I don’t think him and Pacquiao would have took it this far, with trading numbers, you call me and I call you. To me, I’ll be honest, that looks like a fight to me. It’s on its way,” Mayweather Sr. said.

There’s no question that these two fighters are both interested in taking this mega-money fight. Both guys wouldn’t have taken it this far if they weren’t serious about wanting to make the fight happen.

The only question is whether one of the two fighters will be stubborn when it comes to the negotiations and see themselves as unwilling to give in on some of the issues.

That’s a very positive thing that Mayweather Sr. believes the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will get made. Floyd Sr doesn’t know for a fact that the fight will get made due to him not bring privy to what’s going on with the negotiations, but he might have heard something from his son to make him believe that the fight will get made.

Floyd Sr makes good money as the trainer for his son, and it’s a win-win situation if the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight gets made. Not only will Floyd Sr. be getting a nice payday, but he’ll be able to guide Mayweather to victory with his training tips.

By now, Floyd Sr has probably already sized Pacquiao up and come up with the perfect plan to beat him. It’s pretty obvious that Pacquiao is easy to hit and leaves himself open due to his sloppy fighting style.

Floyd Sr. will no doubt instruct his son to use movement around the ring to keep from standing still for Pacquiao, because he absolutely needs a stationary target for him to have success.

If you look at the guys that Pacquiao has done well against during his long career, they’ve always been fighters that foolishly stood in front of him and/or guys that tried to match him punch for punch.

Pacquiao hasn’t shown himself to be any good at cutting off the ring against his opposition, and that’s something that will hurt him against a mobile fighter like Mayweather.

Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach had been under the impression that Mayweather had lost his legs in the last few years. Indeed, Roach had said repeatedly that Mayweather can no longer move like he once did. But in Mayweather’s last fight against Marcos Maidana, he used constant movement to box circles around Maidana to win an easy 12 round decision. Roach now has to re-think his ideas about Mayweather not being able to move, because that’s clearly not the case.
