Golovkin’s domination of Murray could make Froch fight impossible

In that fight, Golovkin showed that he could beat the 175+ pound fighter by his 11th round stoppage victory over Murray. If there was a chance of Golovkin ever getting a fight against Froch, he probably blew it with that performance against Murray, because Froch will likely avoid Golovkin like the plague now.

I mean, Froch wasn’t exactly showing a ton of interest in fighting Golovkin before his fight against Murray, but it’s now difficult to see Golovkin getting a fight against him now. I wish it weren’t that way because it would be a great fight to see how Froch would stack up against the shorter and smaller Golovkin.

It’s certainly a fight that would potentially do a heck of a lot more for Froch’s legacy then him beating George Groves twice, and now looking to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and 50-year-old Bernard Hopkins.

If Golovkin was able to dominate Murray, a fighter just as big as Froch but with better defensive skills, then I’d say the chances are high that Golovkin would have too much power for Froch. Heck, Groves almost knocked Froch out in their 1st fight when Groves fought with aggression and let his hands go, which was completely unlike how Groves fought in their second fight.

If Golovkin were to pressure Froch in the same way he did Murray last Saturday, I’d say the odds would be in Golovkin’s favor or knocking Froch out. Golovkin would be on top of Froch for the entire 12 rounds, and he wouldn’t be stopped by Froch’s limp, spaghetti-like jab that he likes to throw.

Golovkin would walk right through Froch’s jabs and get in close to nail him with body shots in the same way that Andre Ward did in beating Froch in the Super Six tournament in 2011. Golovkin has been boxing skills than Groves, and he’s got superior power to him as well. We all saw what Groves was able to do to Froch when he was nailing him with head shots in their first fight in 2013.

Golovkin’s problem is he’s been looking too good in his fights in knocking everybody out and making it took too easy. Golovkin is probably going to need to show some vulnerability along the way in winning his fights if he wants to get a shot against guys like Froch and Miguel Cotto.

Froch prides himself on having a steel chin, but I don’t think his chin is nearly as good as some people think. If Andre Dirrell was able to stagger Froch, and Jermain Taylor and Groves put him on the canvas, I think Golovkin would have an excellent chance of knocking Froch out.

Golovkin’s relentless style of fighting would force Froch to fight in a toe-to-toe manner for the entire fight, and I think that would be a fight that would favor Golovkin.
