By Scott Gilfoid: Former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price (18-2, 15 KOs) says he’s interested in facing unbeaten 2012 London Olympics gold medalist Anthony Joshua (10, 10 KOs) in a fight to prove which of the two taller Brits are the better heavyweights.
For some reason, Price seems confident about the fight. There are rumors that Price and Joshua sparred with each other in the past with Price having his way with the 25-year-old Joshua.
If that’s the case then it’s no wonder why Price is interested in facing the 6’6” Joshua because he would feel confident that he can beat him.
“The good thing is that he is an Olympic gold medallist and I am an Olympic medallist and that fight sells itself. Two big punchers,” Price said via Skysports.com. “He is 6’6″ and I am 6’8″. It has got the recipe for a brilliant fight and it’s a fight that I would love to be involved in.”
Price has nothing to lose in a fight against Joshua because he was already was exposed by Tony Thompson in his two losses to him in 2013. I mean, another loss for the 6’8” Price really wouldn’t mean all that much at this time, because he’s already pretty much at bottom.
I know he’s ranked in the top 15 in the world rankings now, but that doesn’t mean much. He’s still pretty much the same guy that was blasted out by Thompson. The guy that has something to lose is Joshua, who has fought 10 opponents since he turned pro in 2014 following his controversial victories over Roberto Cammarelle and Erislandy Savon in the 2012 London Olympics.
Joshua is easy to hit, and he might fold if Price aims his right hand shots to the head.
Price will be fighting in two weeks from now against rineu Beato Costa Junior (16-2, 14 KOs) on February 21st at the O2 World Arena, Kreuzberg, in Berlin, Germany.
Price is saying that this is a dangerous opponent for him due to Costa Junior having decent power. All I know is that if Price loses this fight then he can pretty much forget about his dream of getting a world title shot.

Price was out with an injury for the last six months of last year after hurting his hand. His promoters at Sauerland Events are hoping that they can rebuild his career and turn him into a champion level heavyweight.
I’m not sure if that’s going to be possible unless his chin toughens up enough for him to take a hard shot without him nose diving into the canvas. Besides his fragile chin, Price is going to need to develop his jab more and learn to throw it from long range instead of him throwing it at medium range.
Price’s jab is too weak and limp, and he doesn’t use his size the way other heavyweights like the 6’7” Deontay Wilder and 6’6” Wladimir Klitschko do.
