IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (63-3, 53 KOs) is pulling for unbeaten #1 WBC Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) in his fight tomorrow night against WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (24-1-1, 21 KOs) in their important fight on Showtime.

Wladimir has worked with the huge punching Deontay Wilder in the past when Deontay worked as his sparring partner to get him ready for his title defense against the big hitting 6’8” Mariusz Wach in 2012.

Wladimir was so impressed with Deontay’s talent that he made him his No.1 sparring partner at the time, and the two of them sparred many rounds together to get Wladimir ready for that fight. Wladimir recognized Deontay’s talent even then, and predicted he would become a world champion at some point.

“As a fan of Wilder’s talent, I wish that he will win that fight. And I also believe he can make it! Good luck!” Wladimir said via twitter.

It definitely helps Wladimir if Deontay picks up the strap from the 6’2” Stiverne, because a fight between Wladimir and Deontay is a much, much bigger match-up than a fight between Wladimir and Stiverne. With Wladimir being 6’6” and Deontay 6’7”, it would make for one of the most exciting unification matches in Wladimir’s career.

They could put the fight in one of the huge stadium’s Germany and sell it out. If Wladimir wanted to stage the fight in the United States, then they could take Deontay vs. Wladimir and stick it in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand.

Deontay wants the unification match against Wladimir, because he knows it’ll be a great paying fight. If Deontay beats Stiverne, boxing fans could be seeing the Deontay-Wladimir fight in late 2015. Wladimir has to take care of his title defense on April 25th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. He’s currently negotiating a fight against American Bryant Jennings.

It’s still unclear if that fight will take place because the negotiations with Jennings are said to be slow. If Jennings doesn’t get the fight then Wladimir will likely face 42-year-old former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs. It’s not a fight that American boxing fans particularly want to see, but the German fans are interested in seeing Wladimir face Briggs for some reason.

Deontay would be a very dangerous opponent for Wladimir to deal with due to Deontay’s size, reach, hand speed and power. He would definitely be able to land his right hands against the slower Wladimir, and possibly score a quick knockout.
