The 28-year-old Rios, who has taken vicious punishment in his recent fights, will be making $850,000 for his trilogy fight against 34-year-old Alvarado this Saturday night at the 1stBank Center, in Broomfield, Colorado, USA.

For Alvarado’s part, he’s coming into the fight with three defeats in his last four fights, yet he’s going to be getting $785,000. Rios has lost 2 out of his last 3 fights, but some boxing fans believe that Rios has lost 4 out of his last 5 fights, because his win over Richard Abril was a highly controversial fight and Rios’ victory over Diego Chavez last August was even more controversial due to the questionable disqualification of Chaves when he was on the verge of beating Rios in the 9th.

“Purses from Denver: Rios 850k, Alvarado 785k #boxing #AlvaradoRios,” Dan Rafael said on his twitter.

The loser of the Rios-Alvarado 3 fight might find it difficult to continue to get nice paydays like this, because it’s going to be tough for them because you have to imagine that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum will have a difficult time trying to get boxing fans to purchase tickets to see a guy with a lot of recent losses on his resume.

Rios thinks he’s back to where he was earlier in his career due to him having a good training camp. It’s possible that in terms of stamina, Rios might be as good as he was a few years ago, but his reaction time to responding to shots looks to slowed in his last couple of fights.

It’s unknown if that’s due to the punishment he’s taken to the head or if it’s just the natural aging process starting to kick in with Rios. The only thing you can say is that Rios doesn’t look like the same fighter that faced Alvarado in 2012. The same with Alvarado. He’s taken some really bad punishment in his recent losses to Juan Manuel Marquez and Ruslan Provodnikov, and he doesn’t appear to be the same fighter that he was in his first fight in 2012 with Rios.

Tomorrow’s nights winner could find himself facing the likes of Provodnikov, Tim Bradley, Jessie Vargas or Chris Algieri. As for the loser, they’ll just need to be satisfied with whoever Arum can dig up for them.
