floyd988By Rick Jones III: The people have spoken. Every boxing fan in the world from casual to diehard have spoken. Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao is what everyone wants. The biggest bout in boxing history is about will be given to us “The Fans” finally after years of he said, or who said, and why not they said people.

I have been a boxing fan since the age of 8 years old and I haven’t seen this much talk about a fight in years. The main question I have is why is this taking so long? I have done my research, I have called in a few favors and came up with one thing that keeps popping up. Money.

It seems that many believe that either Mayweather or Pacquiao holding up the fight or Arum and Al Haymon holding up this big fight when in reality it is neither. Everyone can continue to believe that the promoters and boxers are holding up this fight but the reality to this boxing soap opera is that the fighters and promoters have completed the negotiations. The camps on both sides have signed. The true reason this fight hasn’t been launched and announce is really simple. Showtime.

Showtime is pretty much crossing the ‘T’s’ and dotting the ‘I’s’ to insure that they come away with a hefty sum of money when this fight is all said and done. I can already hear most of the readers screaming with protest and hate saying but Rick, Showtime has money and its Mayweather that doesn’t want the fight!’ or my favorite response ‘No, Rick, you’re wrong, it’s Haymon and Bob Arum holding up this fight they hate each other.’ PEOPLE! wake up! Showtime is covering up there tracks and removing any doubt that they made a bad investment in Mayweather.

The company guaranteed $250 million dollars to Mr. Mayweather thinking that every fight was going to bring in millions and millions of dollars. The only fight that did what Showtime expected it to do was Mayweather vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, which I believe did $150 million dollars. Showtime was very pleased with those types of numbers. The sad thing about that is before and after that Canelo fight Showtime were not getting those numbers and honestly I have researched and looked to see what the total income of each fight and I am talking about fights against Robert Guerrero and Marcos Maidana.

Showtime did not make an official release of these statements and all I have found are projections. ‘But Rick, Manny Pacquiao doesn’t even come close to Mayweather’s numbers,’ which is true. I hear every fan saying that Mayweather is a bigger draw compared to Manny but Manny was never guaranteed $250 million dollars by HBO and HBO is making great on all there programing compared to Showtime. Showtime expected to bank off of Mayweather and that did not happen. I believe the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight is complete. Showtime is cleaning up deals with whoever they are working with to make sure they gain as much money as possible. If you do the research and keep an eye on the real things that need to make this fight happen. Everyone will see that Showtime is covering every base to make it seem that they never made a bad deal but giving a boxer a guarantee of $250 says a lot and seems like a dumb deal especially if it doesn’t pay back. well I am tired of writing and can’t wait to read the comments.
