Haymon Boxing details on NBC/NBC sports

By DA: On March 7th “Haymon Boxing” will hold it’s first card on NBC (Not NBC sports) with Keith Thurman vs Robert Guerrero and Adrien Broner vs John Molina Jr. Then on April 11th “Haymon Boxing” returns with Danny Garcia vs Lamont Peterson in a 140 lb unification match-up where the winner will hold 3/4 of the major world titles and the lineal championship. Interesting details are: Boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard will do commentary along with Al Michael during the shows and pre and post fight coverage.

Promoters who will promote the 20 matchups this year on NBC will be Dibella entertainment, Warriors Boxing and Goosens promotions, because we can’t forget Al Haymon is not a promoter only a manager/adviser. Also there are other match-ups ready and being worked on but the fighters are not allowed to announce them yet.

Al Haymon has a stable of 150 fighters whom he had under many different promotional companies such as Goosens, Dibella, Warriors, and most notably Golden Boy promotions. Al Haymon will no longer have his fighters under Golden Boy except a handful who have actual contracts. Still, Lamont Jones Haymon’s vice president of operations said today at the press conference Haymon is open to working with Golden Boy and any other promoters if it involves pleasing the fans with marquee bouts.

One quote by Jones is “But in order to put together the best possible fights for fans, there may be situations where we have to work with fighters who are not managed by Haymon Boxing, so the possibility absolutely exists that we’ll be working with fighters who aren’t currently affiliated with Haymon Boxing”.

Another was “Al Haymon has no problem working with different promoters,” said Sam Watson Haymon’s right hand man. “Al manages boxers and just wants to make sure that they’re being paid right and being well taken care of.” That’s very cheerful news and another good thing is none of Haymon’s guys are exclusively signed to NBC so we definitely could being seeing some back on Showtime against non-Haymon fighters for that particular bout. But expect all Haymon fighters against each other on NBC. 2015 looks like it will be a golden year for boxing and we should be getting some terrific cards. Stay Tuned.
