Trout thinks he’d have a better chance of getting a rematch against the 34-year-old Cotto than he would against Canelo because of his previous win over Cotto in 2012. Canelo defeated Trout by a very close decision in 2013 in a fight that could have gone Trout’s way.

Trout thinks that Canelo has the tools to defeat Cotto. He sees Canelo as faster, stronger and bigger than Cotto. The only thing that Trout doesn’t know about is whether Cotto’s trainer Freddie Roach can come up with a good game plan that will help lead Cotto to victory over Canelo.

“I think that Canelo is going to be the one who is going to take it. The reason I believe that Canelo is going to win is that I believe that he’s going to be stronger and that he’s faster,” Trout said via RingTV.com.

It’s a toss-up fight between Canelo and Cotto. Canelo is fairly easy to hit, and if Cotto can put hands on him enough in this fight then we could see Cotto score a knockout. Floyd Mayweather Jr had Canelo looking really bad last year when he trapped him on the ropes in their fight. If Canelo backs up to the ropes or if he simply stands still in front of Cotto then would very well see Cotto knocking him out.

Trout, #6 WBA, will be fighting tonight against Luis Grajeda (18-3-2, 14 KOs) in a 10 round bout on ESPN from the Pechanga Resort & Casino, in Temecula, California, USA. This is another tune-up bout for the 29-year-old Trout. He recently defeated Daniel Dawson by a 10 round decision last August. Grajeda is the next stay busy fight for Trout. However, Trout needs to look better in this fight than he did against Dawson if he wants to be taken seriously as a contender. Dawson knocked Trout down twice in the 3rd round of the fight and had him ready to be knocked out.

On Wednesday, Trout weighed in at 156 pounds at the weigh-in. Grajeda weighed 155.6.

Trout was beaten by Erislandy Lara by a 12 round decision last year in December in a one-sided fight. Lara knocked Trout down in the 11th round of the fight.
