The Verbal Sparring Continues. This time, it’s a punch from Mayweather

floyd6002By Antonia Bufalino: Nothing is more entertaining than hearing the two best P4P fighters, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, go back and forth in trash-talk. Hearing them trade words is almost as entertaining as it would be to watch them trade punches, almost.

With the clamoring of a fight between the two seeming to reach an all-time high so has the verbal sparring. After Mayweather’s Showtime interview, Pacquiao was quick to respond per Sky Sports.

“He (Mayweather) has reached a dead end. He has nowhere to run but to fight me. I will try my best to make this a thrilling and entertaining fight. But I doubt if he’s gonna engage me in a slugfest. You all know his fighting style. Most of his previous fights, if not all, induced us to sleep.”

Pacquiao also put forth a “holiday” themed insult towards Mayweather the next day, by issuing the tweet:

“.@floydmayweather don’t be a boxing humbug. Let’s give the fans the fight they want. They have waited long enough.”

Though Floyd Mayweather isn’t as audacious to directly tweet Pacquiao yet, he still does insinuate plenty. His past three tweets circle around Pacquiao, including two fresh ones from today.

He posted two links, referring fans to Fight Hype where there is a sit down interview of Mayweather expressing his desires to fight Pacquiao and why the fight hasn’t happened in the past. Then, he also retweeted Boston Celtic Walter McCarty’s message towards Manny Pacquiao, “@mannypacquiao @floydmayweather lose arum if you really want to make the fight.”

In an interview with FightHype.com, Mayweather sat down and was asked about Pacquiao’s recent comments on his “boring” fighting style and likelyhood to not to want to engage. Mayweather’s comments are as entertaining as always. For when it comes to trash-talk, Mayweather just seems to know how to do it, per FightHype.

“It’s so crazy that once he sees that I said I do want the fight to happen and let’s make the fight happen, now he wants to say that Mayweather won’t stand there and slug with me. Last time I checked, it’s not called slugging; it’s called boxing. I mean, that’s what happened in the Marquez fight. You was trying to play tough guy and we see what happened.”

Touché, Floyd. Touché. It’ll be funny to see what Pacquiao’s comeback is. I’m sure it won’t take long.
