The dream fights (2015 – 2016)

floyd677By James Sexton: 2014 was a slow year for boxing. Not many great fights, not many new developments. The good points of the year seemed few and far between. Despite this there are possible fights which could be put together in the next few years that I as a long time fan would love to see. I am just going to go over a few potential matchups in this article, some more likely than others.

Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao

I am sorry. I had to say it. This must be the most done to death subject in the sport so I will not go into it, 2015 however seems to be the best chance we have had in a while and could also be the last chance.

Wladimir Klitschko vs Bermane Stiverne / Deontay Wilder

The winner of the WBC heavyweight bout between Wilder and Stiverne should be seen to be the best chance at a non-Klitschko unified heavyweight division. Personally, I do not believe there is a heavyweight out there capable of beating Wladimir, but this could prove an interesting matchup anyway.

Sergey Kovalev vs Adonis Stevenson

Whilst I like the fight between Jean Pascal and Sergey Kovalev, having one unified champion at light heavyweight would be very exciting. However, if this fight did take place it may be difficult for exciting matches to happen afterwards as the light-heavyweight picture isn’t as dense with talent as some of the other classes.
