pac555By Francisco Gurrola:  As it is not my intentions to revive old threads, to bring back the dusty topic or to formulate a bias opinion I see facts that are being either ignored or not taken into consideration.

At this point of Manny Pacquiao’s and Floyd Mayweather Jr’s career it is imperative to leave the past behind and focus on the big picture. I have noticed that the bell is ringing louder and louder everyday, I keep noticing continuous threads and articles talking about the big fight.

Some focus on how it is Manny’s responsibility to make it happen (agreeing on Mayweather’s terms); some focus on how Mayweather is responsible of the fight not happening (making demand after demand) and some say and have a theory of it actually happening next year (speculating and rumors). Being realistic rather than just optimistic, I do believe that there is interest on both parties to make the fight happen. After reading a good number of articles on the most recent activity for the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, I came to realize that some of it really makes sense. And here is where i stand on the topic.

I myself prefer to watch Pacquiao fight over pay-per-view king Mayweather. I find Pacman’s fights to be a lot more exciting and interesting. This is of course is just my opinion. I also like how Manny is very humble and has a great sense of humor. He keeps his feet on the ground. I see Mayweather as the best defending boxer there is in the world, his dodging and counter-punching skills make him who he is. As an athlete I admire the way Mayweather handles his opponents. Mayweather is also a great business man no doubt about it, but I do think that he lacks a little bit of realism.

Mayweather cannot forget how he got to the throne, how he escalated the ladder. Coming out to the ring with clowns, live performance and posting videos of his many girls on the web shows no side of being humble. Moving on, here is what has been mentioned repeatedly and has caught my attention. Sources on the web claim that there is negotiations going on between both camps. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has spoken openly about the topic admitting such negotiations. There is a speculation that this has been in the works for a while now.

As many of you know Pacquiao has been more open to the topic, basically calling out Mayweather in every interview he has. Last time they asked Mayweather about the fight, he didn’t say no and left the door open for speculation. There has been rumors that Mayweather offered Arum 10 million dollars to stay out of the negotiations. There are rumors that Mayweather would only fight if there is a rematch clause involved. There are also rumors that Mayweather is asking for 2/3’s of the disbursement. To all these previous statements what I find most shocking is that Mayweather has not yet come out to disprove them or to call them as false and/or incorrect. It seems as if indeed there is negotiations happening, as if there is actually some truth to the claims and that perhaps sometime soon if the negotiations come to a signature we will be evidencing the biggest fight the world has been waiting for in our generation. I do believe that things are moving in the right direction, as we know Floyd does not take long to disprove a rumor or to bite back on the web, to all this action and movement happening the question rises. Where is Floyd? Why is he not mentioning anything on the media? Is Floyd considering the fight? Is Floyd ready to take on it? We will find out soon. The topic is hot and expect news very soon either to disprove the such awaited fight, to stall such awaited fight or to provide more hope to such awaited fight. Stay posted.
