Does Mayweather really care about legacy?

By Mohamed Horomtallah – As the curtain is about to drop on his long and remarkable career , Floyd Mayweather is at a crossroads. How will he be remembered? What will his legacy be?

When it comes to his boxing skills, his defensive genius along with his superior ring IQ, I am probably one of Mayweather biggest fans.

I give him full credit for dominating his sport for the better part of two decades. I respect the fact that he only fights guys coming of off huge wins and I admire his undefeated status.

Ironically , it is his famous “0” that is keeping him from securing his legacy. His fear of losing his undefeated record has evolved into such an obsession that he will do whatever it takes to keep that “0” intact.

Manny Pacquiao represent such a threat and I am starting to believe that Floyd Mayweather is avoiding Pacquiao at all coasts.

We are all aware of what happened since the negotiations started in 2010, the blood test, the purse split, the cut that won’t heal not to mention the stadium that was supposed to built. We can all agree that it was both camps fault at one point but we are beyond that. If two fighters really want to face each other’s, there is no denying them.

Mayweather has to publicly come out and show the world that he’s not scared of losing to Pacquiao and that he means business.

Mayweather refers to himself as TBE, the best ever, yet he does not give the impression that he is willing to grab the chance of facing his biggest arch rival, thus securing his legacy as the best of his era.

TBE is not a title you can buy, it has to be earned and to achieve that, you have to face the best, you have to be willing to risk everything, die in the ring.

Glory does not embrace those who played it safe. It favors those who push the limits and surpass themselves.

If Mayweather is serious about his legacy then he has no choice but to face Manny Pacquiao before he retires.
