Mayweather and Pacquiao fans need to stop Whining

pac245By BR: When the word boxing is mentioned nowadays fans speaks either of Floyd Mayweather Jr or Manny Pacquiao, even without them knowing whom they fought. They just seem to be a household names. Boxing fans however know every aspect of the boxers, whether it be their lives or careers, we have it down and memorized.

Now it’s safe to say there is a big difference between the mainstream fans and hardcore fans. But what is similar in trait is the fact that both fans share a common ground, meaningless arguments, saying things without proof, evidence of absence.

Asking oneself is it justified to believe something that is not true. Take for instance, when some fan hear Mayweather vs Pacquiao, he rambles that “Floyd is ducking,” a hardcore fan (with intelligence) would understand the nature of business but at the same time give blame to both sides for lack of urgency to put forth the biggest boxing match in the past decade. A hardcore fan would not put the blame on fully on Floyd Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions, but also with Top Rank, Bob Arum and Micheal Koncz (Pacquiao’s Manager). Now many fans say if “Manny wants the fight, call him 24/7)”, well the truth is Manny is not his own boss; think of it like this: Manny is the security guard for the bank (Well call it Top Rank Bank). Do you speak about a loan to a security guard or a banking consultant? There’s a big difference. Many hardcore fan insist that Floyd has power to get the deal done, and figure he is the deciding factor as a whole. That shows a lack of understanding of the business aspect in boxing, and that it takes two to dance the waltz.

Now I love both fighters, I watched every single fight since 98′ for Mayweather vs. Angel Manfredy and 99′ for Pacquiao against Reynante Jamili. Both display attributes different from one another. I love the sweet chess match and defensive abilities of Mayweather alongside his everlasting counter punching and his power which was shown earlier in his career, which humiliates his opponents. Pacquiao shows me the beautiful footwork, awkwardness and massive punching rate with tremendous power, giving his opponents a good old slaying. Now what is egregious to me is the fact that fans and media alike a insisting a boycott of fights. My take is simple, these people whom utter the word boycott are a clear indication of mainstream egotistic fan. Funny how they say boycott a Mayweather fight when his style is well known for almost two decades. It truly marks a sad day in the sport of boxing for myself.

Lastly, Boxing has known as a sport that displays courage and hunger. The strong survive as they say and one whom enters the square ring is not afraid to fight even the dangerous of foes. Therefore, neither fighters is afraid of each other. Hardcore boxing fans with a deep knowledge understand that the sweet science is everlasting and beautiful. Whether a brawl or a sweetly procured chess match, the beautiful sport never fails to meet a fans expectations, unless you fill it up with WHINING. YES, I said it.
