Devon Alexander expects Khan to be an easy fight for him

alexander4By Scott Gilfoid: Former two division world champion Devon Alexander (26-2, 14 KOs) sees himself having an easy fight against the 28-year-old Amir Khan (29-3, 19 KOs) in their upcoming fight on December 13th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Alexander says his speed, skills and southpaw stance are going to give Khan a lot of problems when they get inside the ring on 12/13. In fact, Alexander feels this is going to be an easy fight for him.

Alexander says he’s not going to looking for a knockout of Khan, but he’s certainly take it if he sees Khan hurt and flopping around on the canvas after he nails him with a big shot to the head.

“I feel very good about this fight,” Alexander said to 78SportsTV. “This fight is going to show why I’m one of the elites at 147. I’m going to prove a lot of people wrong. He’s definitely in trouble. Me personally, I’m not going to go out there looking to knock him head off. I’m going to go in there with skills, speed and follow the game plan. If the knockout comes, I’ll definitely be there to take it.”

Knocking Khan out seems to be the way to beat him. He’s lost one fight by a decision against the body punching Lamont Peterson in 2011. In Khan’s other defeats, he was destroyed early by Breidis Prescott and Danny Garcia in losing by knockouts. Khan never attempted to avenge either of those defeats.

Alexander has good power, and his speed is top notch for the welterweight division. I definitely rate him well above Khan’s last opponent Luis Collazo, and obviously he’s much better than Julio Diaz and Carlos Molina. Diaz had Khan on the canvas in their fight in 2013, and he hurt Khan several times late in the fight.

“You can expect a blowout, because he hasn’t fought anybody of my character or my skillset,” Alexander said. “He’s not had anyone as fast, quick with the movement that I have. I think it’s going to be a runaway fight for me.”

If Khan loses this fight to Alexander, then he forget all about ever fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. That fight would be off the table. It’s still possible Khan could get a fight against Manny Pacquiao, because his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has shown in the past that he’s willing to match Pacquiao up against guys coming off losses. But Khan’s career would definitely be heading downwards, because there are equally dangerous guys in the division like Keith Thurman that would give Khan just as many problems as Alexander.
