Deontay expects to KO Stiverne in 4 rounds or less

deontay4444By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight knockout artist Deontay Wilder (32-0, 32 KOs) expects to make it easy when he finally gets World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne (34-1-1, 21 KOs) for his mandated title shot in the near future.

Deontay had originally estimated that he’d face the soon to be 36-year-old Stiverne in November, but that obviously isn’t happening. December is likely out as well. We’re probably looking at the fight taking place in the first half of 2015.

It all depends on how long the WBC wants to let this string out before they get firm and start talking about stripping the title.

Deontay thinks Stiverne and his management are scared about the threat he brings to this fight. He thinks they’re dragging it out as long as possible to avoid the inevitable of him knocking Stiverne out and taking his WBC strap. There’s not word about whether there would be a rematch clause in the contract. That’s an obvious thing they can include if they want to get a chance to avenge the loss and recapture the title, because otherwise Deontay will very likely move on and look for bigger fights against the likes of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, David Haye or Kubrat Pulev. Deontay has a chance to make a lot of money once he gets past Stiverne and gets into the bigger names in the division.

“Chris [Arreola] isn’t fast as me and he hit Stiverne, now he’s seeing a tall guy, I’m going to have fun with him,” Wilder said to Thaboxingvoice.com. “Make it look easy. This is definitely not going past 4 rounds. I know they’re scared, Don King is scared, Stiverne the only guy that Don really got to keep him relevant, trying to hold onto that spot.”

You’ve got to figure that if Deontay is going to score a knockout in this fight then it’s going to take place early on, because that’s when Deontay has been knocking all of his opponents out. He hits too hard, he’s fast and he’s got too much size to him for most guys to stay in there with him for any length of time. Stiverne is going to get hit with some monstrous shots in the early going in this fight, and it’s quite possible his chin will give out on him at some point.
