Mayweather wants the win and he wants to do it in a more impressive fashion than he did last time he fought Maidana last May. But with that said, Mayweather says he’s going to take advantage of the situation if he stuns Maidana with a big shot.

He’s going to go for the KO rather than letting Maidana regain his bearings and survive. If he can hurt Maidana, Mayweather will look to put him out of his misery.

“I’m just going to let the fight play out like it plays out and go out there and do what I do best. If a knockout presents itself of course I’m going to take full advantage of a knockout,” Mayweather said.

That’s what you like to hear from a fighter. Mayweather isn’t going to play it safe against Maidana if he has him staggering from a head shot if he’s dropped him with a punch to the body. Mayweather wll look to finish him off with a flurry of shots so that he doesn’t hang around for the full 12 rounds.

Some fighters would be afraid to try and finish off Maidana if they had him hurt, because he’s such a big puncher. They wouldn’t want to get him in trouble themselves because Maidana is lethal even when he’s hurt.

If you look at all the fights that Maidana has been in, he’s always been dangerous after he’s been knocked down or hurt. Victor Ortiz knocked Maidana down twice, and he was quickly knocked out soon after.

Josesito Lopez hurt Maidana with a body shot, and we saw what happened there. Amir Khan knocked Maidana down in the 1st round, but then had to take vicious punishment later in the fight after Maidana knocked him down.

A knockout victory for Mayweather will bring closure to the Maidana fight. There won’t be any opportunity for Maidana to claim he should have won or that the gloves kept him from winning.
