Floyd Mayweather(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Chris Williams: The “Mayhem: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2” final press conference will be streamed today starting at 1 pm PT for boxing fans to see WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr and Marcos Maidana make their final comments about their fight on Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This is a fight that boxing fans have been looking forward to for the past four months ever since their previous fight last May, which was won by Mayweather by a 12 round majority decision.

Mayweather had said before the fight that he was going to give the fans a gift by electing to stand and trade with Maidana, and that’s precisely what he did by proving that he could stand in the pocket and beat Maidana.

Maidana says he wants Mayweather to fight him exactly the way he fought the last time they fought by standing in one place so he can get his shots off. It’s not likely that Mayweather will give Maidana another handicap because he already gave him a huge handicap last May when he stood with his back against the ropes so that Maidana could try and land his big punches.

“This second fight I hope he decides to stand and fight with me, to fight like a man. I hope he doesn’t start running or trying to move away,” Maidana said.

I don’t know if you can call it fighting like a man for someone to stand in one place with his feet rarely moving more than a foot or two in any direction. A more accurate description would be Maidana is hoping Mayweather fights like a dummy so that he can gain some kind of edge against him. I don’t think that’s going to happen again.

We already saw Mayweather fight Maidana’s fight once, and now it’s Maidana’s turn to try and fight Mayweather’s style by using his feet to move around the ring and stay in the center of the ring. Mayweather was able to adapt to what Maidana was doing last May. The question now is whether Maidana will be able to adapt to what Mayweather does on Saturday night in their fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
