FINAL PRESSER-Broner vs Taylor-6658(Photo credit: Stephanie Trapp / SHOWTIME) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell is picking former three division world champion Adrien Broner (28-1, 22 KOs) to defeat Emmanuel Taylor (18-2, 12 KOs) in their fight tonight at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Dirrell feels it’s going to be a good contest between two quality fighters, but it’s going to come down to Broner’s superior talent at the end of the day that will give him the victory. Dirrell is well familiar with Broner from when he was a kid, and he knows the kind of talent he has especially when he’s dialed in like he is now.

“I think Adrien Broner is going to do his thing,” Dirrell said to esnewsreporting.com. “Taylor is going to come and bring it, but I think Adrien Broner is going to pick him apart.”

I don’t agree with Dirrell. I believe that Broner’s superior talent and power is going to be the deciding factor in this fight. When Broner brings his A-game, he’s awfully hard to beat. He just needs to improve on his work rate because that seems to be the one flaw in his game that has led to him having problems in the past.

Broner made the mistake of not throwing enough punches and not moving enough in his loss to Marcos Maidana last year in December. It was a simple mistake on Broner’s part that he could have easily fixed if he had been given the right advice in his corner. But in Broner’s last fight against Carlos Molina, he still didn’t throw a lot of shots or move around the ring the way he needed to.

As such, Broner made the Molina fight a lot tougher than it otherwise would have been had he thrown more shots instead of loading up on single punches all the time.

Taylor has a lot of talent too and he could make this a very tough fight for Broner if he brings his A-game like he did in his last bout against Karim Mayfield last July. That was a good fight by Taylor and he reminded me of a more active version of Broner. It was the same style but with more punches thrown by Taylor.

As for Dirrell, he’s waiting to find out what happens with the George Groves vs. Christopher Rebrasse fight in order to see which of those two he’ll be fighting in the future. Dirrell sees no problems with facing either of those guys, and he’s looking for bigger fights in the future.
