Porter’s Team lets Brook’s Team watch Porter spar

Shawn Porter(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Scott Gilfoid: In a sign of how confident Team Shawn Porter is about their man beating challenger Kell Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) a week from now, they let Team Brook sit and watch Porter spar earlier this week. Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle sat with arms folded in front of him and watched Porter spar a tall fighter with a fighting style somewhat similar to Brook’s style, but with a far better jab than him.

When Porter’s trainer/dad, Ken Porter, was tripped off by a member of the media, Ken said to Thaboxingvoice “Oh man, come on. That’s what we do. All he’s going to do is watch what he’s got to deal with. Getting in there is a whole different thing. I don’t care about that. That’s something you can’t teach and fix in 9 days. It’s too late. He could get up in the corner with me and I could tell him what we’re doing. And there still wouldn’t be nothing he could do about it.”

Wow! That’s confidence coming from Kenny Porter. He’s so sure that his man Shawn is going to win this fight that he was willing to let his trainer sit and watch an entire spar. Honestly, I can’t see how anything that Ingle would tell Brook would have any change in the outcome of this fight, because it’s more than just him knowing what Porter is going to do.

Ingle’s had plenty of time to sit and digest Porter’s past fights on video, so it’s not as if he’s going to glean that much from sitting through a sparring session where Porter is working on picking off jabs.

This is more about Brook not having the talent to win this fight. If he can’t rise above the performance he’s been putting in lately against the likes of Vyacheslav Senchenko, Alvaro Robles and Carson Jones, then he’s going to go out there and get whipped by Porter in this fight.

Brook has got to improve in a dramatic way by August 16th otherwise he’s going to be in deep, deep trouble when he gets in the ring with Porter, and there will be nothing that Ingle can do about it. He can give advice until he’s blue in the face, but if Brook doesn’t show more talent than what he’s exhibited in his previous 32 fights, then he’s going to get beaten up and stopped by Porter.
