cotto552By D.A: It’s no secret the most exciting weight divisions to the boxing world and family is the 140-160 range. Of course most of us can agree 147 is the most watched and exciting weight division. The 2nd in my opinion would be the 154/160 divisions in a draw. Recently we’ve seen the best 154 and 160 fighters all win their bouts and fans are calling for all 3 to fight at some point.

That would be Miguel Cotto, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Boxing fans have been wanting to see Miguel Cotto square off with GGG to see who is the best middleweight fighter in the world. While Golovkin is a title holder he is not the legitimate champion. Cotto captured the 160 crown after beating the former Middleweight king Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez.

Naturally people believe Golovkin is the really the best middleweight and not Cotto due to Cotto being a 154 fighter and having no business at 160. I’ve seen dozens of fans push for Cotto and Golovkin to fight in December but that’s not gonna happen. As Cotto and Freddie Roach don’t want to ruin their plans for May 2nd of 2015 in a mega-fight against Canelo Alvarez.

Canelo is thrown into the equation because if he beats cotto if the fight is made, then fans will want to see Canelo vs GGG in a bout for middleweight supremacy. It all goes down too who wins out of Canelo and Cotto, and I’m certain GGG will get the winner. But as for now Cotto is looking to take a stay active fight against Andy Lee, while Canelo looks to take a risky fight against James Kirkland.

Golovkin to me seems to be heading for unification bout against Soliman or a fight against Martin Murray. Should all 3 win their respective bouts expect 2015 to be with Canelo-GGG or Cotto-GGG. It all comes down to who wins between Canelo and Cotto in May if the fight gets made.

These 3 are on a collision course and only won will win. De la Hoya stated GGG is on Canelos list of future opponents and Trainer Freddie Roach also stated he wouldn’t mind a Golovkin fight in the future. So put the, “they’ll avoid GGG” to rest”. Let me know who you guys feel will win in the end or what’ll happen.
