Broner needs to forget about avenging his loss to Maidana

broner55555By Gavin”Neds” O’Connor: Former three division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (28-1-22 KOs) is a fighter that courts controversy and is always good value for a quote or two. Broner believes he will not encounter any problems in his next fight against light welterweight Emmanuel Taylor (18-2-12 KOs) on September the 6th 2014 in his hometown of Cincinnati at the U.S Bank Arena.

Broner seems to be letting his self-confidence get the better of him once again with him looking past his next bout with one eye on averaging his one and only defeat at the hands of Marcos Maidana last December in Texas when losing Broner list his WBA welterweight title in an unexpected 12 round unanimous decision loss.

A rematch with Maidana is clearly on Broner’s mind rather than Emmanuel Taylor.

Broner’s next opponent Taylor is fresh off a hard thought victory against journeyman Karim Mayfield only two weeks ago. Before that, Taylor lost to Chris Algieri at the Paramount Theatre in Huntington, New York last February.

It’s hard to discount Broner’s potential at 140, because many boxing fans believe that this is his ideal weight. It’s hard to believe Maidana would contemplate moving down in weight to 140 to face Broner if Maidana should lose or win against Floyd Mayweather Jr in their rematch on September 13th.

Broner would be better off leaving revenge in the hands of the more capable gloves of (big bro) Mayweather, as Maidana has proved once already he is a bridge to far and a problem for Broner at this point in his career.

Broner, the young pretender to the Mayweather crown, would be better advised to rebuild his stuttering career at 140 and take some advice on sportsmanship after his quick ring exit after losing to Maidana last December, which didn’t endear Broner to the boxing public. Ideally, Broner needs to work on improving his public image because his legacy would be better enhanced by maybe attempting to clear out the 140 ranks and unifying the titles. This is a more realistic option for Broner. He needs to leave the welterweight division to true 147 pounders.
