By Chris Williams: In training video today from WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather’s training camp you can see that his speed and mobility are both looking at a very high level already in his second week of camp. Mayweather is training for his September 13th rematch against Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In watching the video, you can see that the hand speed is there for Mayweather. The speed is going to give Maidana fits in the rematch, because Mayweather plans on using it more in this fight than he did the last time He fought Maidana. But in watching the video, you can see that Mayweather is implementing movement in his mitt work.

The movement is obviously going to be a big part of his game for the rematch, because he’s not going to stand in front of Maidana to give him a handicap for this fight. Mayweather gave Maidana a handicap the last time he fought him, but the second time around he’s going to give him a different look by seeing how well Maidana adjusts to constant circular movement.

My guess is Maidana will have major problems dealing with it, and he’ll end up looking as bad as he did in his loss to Devon Alexander. Alexander gave Maidana fits by using a combination of movement, clinching and fast shots to totally dominate him in his one-sided win over him in 2012. Maidana couldn’t handle the movement and he ended up getting easily beaten in the fight.

Maidana is going to need to show that he can move his game to the next level on September 13th or else he’s going to end up taking a one-sided loss to Mayweather. This time Mayweather isn’t going to make it easy for Maidana by standing still for 12 rounds in order for him to get his shots off. Maidana will need to prove that he fight someone who is going to be moving and showing different angles.
