Fury: My opponent on Saturday will be in trouble

fury1111By Scott Gilfoid: Now that Dereck Chisora is out with a hand injury, Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO’s) is saying he’s going to take out his frustrations on the replacement opponent that they dig up for him to fight this Saturday at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, UK.

Fury is insisting on still fighting on the card, and his team is actively looking to find a replacement right now. We’re talking obviously a low level fodder opponent for Fury and not a quality guy. In other words, pretty much the type of guy that Fury has been fighting since he turned pro. There won’t likely be any change unfortunately in the level of quality.

“It’s very frustrating for me that another of my major fights has been cancelled with my opponent pulling out injured,” said Fury. “I have been training for months to get ready for this fight and am in the best condition of my life so for this to happen again – for the third time in such a short space of time – is a big blow. Nevertheless, I will be fighting this weekend and my team will find an adequate replacement. Believe me, whoever I face on Saturday they will be in big, big trouble and I will take out my frustrations on them.”

So let me get this straight; Chisora pulls out of the fight with a hand injury, and because of that Fury is going to take it out on some poor hapless opponent that gets pulled in at the last second to fight him. Talk about your displaced anger.

Instead of taking it out on the opponent, Fury should be on his knees thanking whoever it is who agrees to fight him, because it’s not as if they’re going to get the big cash that Chisora was going to get for the fight. I mean, they’re going to be doing Fury a favor by agreeing to fight him on only four days’ notice. Fury should be blaming himself for his misfortunes, because if he would simply take on younger fighters, he’d improve his chances of getting in the ring instead of trying to set up fights against aging guys in their 30s.

It’s Fury’s fault. He should be fighting the likes of Bryant Jennings and Deontay Wilder instead of trying to fight Chisora and David Haye, both of which are in their 30s and couldn’t make it through training camp without going down with an injury.
