floyd002244By Gavin “Neds” O’Connor: Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KO’s) has the world at his feet as the highest paid athlete not just in boxing but in all sports; With his big money, he can purchase high priced cars, jewelry and anything his heart desires. With his perfect boxing record, the zero, and with the titles, he has beaten a list of world champions as long as your arm and has the love of his fans.

Mayweather has arguably the best defensive skill ever seen in boxing history, and he’s peerless maybe with the exception of the great Guglielmo Papaleo (229-11-1, 65 KO’s). So where did it all go wrong? Enter stage left the little man from the Philippines, ang pambansang kamao ( the nations fist) Emmanuel dapidran Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KO’s), the fighter of the decade and the first and only 8 division world champion, as well as the 1st to win lineal championships in 4 different weights.

Like it or no, whatever corner you’re in, who you believe is at fault and most importantly who would win, who knows but for me in ten years’ time I want to be talking about the fight and not about who would win and who was at fault for the biggest fight in history not taking place. So where did it go wrong?

So what I am trying to say is ever generation or era has it super fights to brag and talk about for the 80s crowd take your pick Roberto Duran v Sugar Ray Leonard, Leonard v Marvin Hagler, Tommy “Hitman” Hearns v Hagler (this one what can I say if you haven’t watched it get the internet on and enjoy the rollercoaster ride) the 70s rumble in the jungle the list goes on and on. This generation needs there super fight for their bragging rights witch ever side you’re on and above all their sanity. The sand is running out of the hour glass and no one is getting any younger lest of all the two great men in question. Where did it all go wrong?
