David Haye: I’d bet on me coming back in September or October

haye899By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) said last night that he could be back in the ring in September or October. Haye looked like he was feeling pretty good in celebrating last night’s fight card at Wembley Stadium, but he looked to be be dead serious about being back in the ring.

“If I was a betting man, I’d bet I’m fighting in September or October,” Haye said to IFL TV.

Gee, it looks like Haye has made a quicker recovery than many boxing fans thought he would. It was only a couple of months ago when Haye was sounding iffy about his career like he wouldn’t be able to come back from his right shoulder injury. You can still put a big question mark over whether Haye will be able to come back or not, because he still hasn’t even begun the hard part of getting in the ring to start sparring with anybody. If his shoulder can handle the wear and tear of tough sparring sessions with the likes of the talented Deontay Wilder, then and only then can you give Haye’s comeback a positive prognosis.

If Haye is unable to regain full strength in his right shoulder, he at least will have his left hand to relay on. He adapt his style where he’s using more jabs and left hooks than he did in the past. Who knows? Haye still be able to have good success when matched against the right opponent. He only needed a left hook to dominate Dereck Chisora in his last fight two years ago in July 2012. Haye stopped Chisora with left hooks in flattening hjim in the 5th round in Upton Park.

With with cash that Haye could make with a comeback, he’d be crazy not to try and make a comeback. He’d be able to make good money fighting the likes of Chisora, Tyson Fury, and Anthony Joshua. Haye wouldn’t even need to leave the UK for him to make big money. Against Fury and Chisora, Haye would only need a left hook to beat them. With Joshua, Haye would need to throw right hands due to how huge the guy is.
