No way Mayweather Jr. will fight Pacquiao

may95By Alon Calinao Dy: After making careful observations of the exciting fight between the two top boxers American Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Argentine Marcos Rene Maidana at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 3, 2014, I have predicted that Manny Pacquiao is going to win against Mayweather Jr.

I doubt Maidana has the same power and speed with Pacquiao, but he is just slower and powerless version of the Filipino boxing champ. In this fight, other boxing fans think that Maidana had won the fight. But in respect to Maidana’s camp, I don’t think he clearly delivered his shots. Although some of these punches landed at Floyd, the problem was it did not impress the judges and most boxing analysts. That’s why the decision was given to undefeated American boxer.

However, I do believe that Pacquiao will easily beat Mayweather Jr. if ever they face each other. Most boxers know their tough opponents that’s why they are always avoiding to make the fight happen. For instance, Nonito Donaire Jr. versus Rigondeaux. I believe Donaire was avoiding the Cuban boxer for a long time because he knew that Rigondeaux was a difficult fight for him. Until such time, there was no fight left for him out there, but only the Cuban fighter.

Unfortunately, the Filipino Flash had lost the fight against Rigondeaux.

This is also the same story for Mayweather Jr. He knows exactly that pacquiao will throw lots of power punches and I am sure one of these shots will definitely hurt Mayweather Jr. Yes, Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao have slowed a little bit over the years, but I suppose Pacquiao has still the edge because his power and speed are still evident, and he is now a smarter fighter than his previous fights. His aggressiveness and strong will of the Filipino boxing champ will be a huge factor to win this possible match.

Therefore, I should say that there’s no way Floy Mayweather Jr. is going to fight Pacquiao despite the requests from the hall-of-fame boxers like Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and now Muhammad Ali. Of course, for Mayweather Jr, a perfect record in boxing is more important thing than to take risk against Pacquiao, which he’s not sure wether he will handle the relentless attacks and pressures from the eight-division world champion.
