By John Kelvin: Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KO’s) is a future hall of famer and one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time. There is no need to list his various accomplishments because we already know what great things he has done in his career. Marquez’s great legacy is in danger of being tarnished by his some uneducated fans who think he is taking some sort of performance enhancing drug to aid his power punching.

This accusation has been floating around since Marquez linked up with strength and conditioning coach Angel Heredia, before his knockout victory over his great rival Manny Pacquiao. Juan Manuel Marquez has never failed a drug test in his career, so there is no evidence to suggest that he is doing anything illegal. It is disrespectful of some fans to throw such such damaging accusations at a great fighter who has given so many great nights and fights to the world. Marquez has got to the level he is at in his career due to hard work, determination and discipline.

Marquez didn’t just become a power puncher when he joined up with his knew strength and conditioning coach, one just has to look at his boxing record to realize this. He didn’t knockout Manny Pacquiao because he was taking performance enhancers. He knocked Pacquiao out because of his superior timing and the fact that Pacquiao walked into the punch, which doubled it’s impact. That right hand would have knocked out any boxer, it was simply a perfectly timed punch.

Prior to his fight against Mike Alvarado, fans were highlighting the acne on Marquez’s chest as another sign of alleged illegal supplement taking.  That acne could have been a result of almost anything, such as a rash. The most common cause is that Marquez is 40 years old and his body may simply be changing as a result of aging. That is what happens when you age, your body begins to change as some of the people reading this will know.

Fans have to stop making these ridiculous and damaging accusations about not only Marquez but other fighters as well. It looks as though Juan Manuel only has a few fights left in his career so lets start to appreciate him.
