How far is Manny Pacquiao willing to go?

pac653By Danny Ech: Yes, reader I know you are tired of hearing about Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao and why hasn’t the fight happened and Mayweather is a coward and Mayweather is this and Mayweather is that but the fight “that never was” is still coming up today. Everyone in the world that wants this fight has his or her own opinions as to why it has not happened and just about every writer and every sports commentator has voiced their opinions as well.

As far as I have seen in my own opinion most of the blame and the pressure has been placed on Floyd Mayweather based on the articles I’ve seen on multiple websites and interviews I’ve watched on multiple sport channels. At this point I believe Mayweather has become a victim of his own success which is sad because he has raised the bar so high that if his performance is anything less than usual he is looked at as old, declining, weak, not that great, almost immediately etc etc.

Now in the case of the great Manny Pacquiao and his fans and followers they all believe Manny is the true king and the true peoples champ the true G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) to say the least. At this point today in the year 2014 after many failed attempts to make Maweather vs. Pacquiao happen my question is since Manny and his fans keep talking about it is how far is Manny Pacquiao willing to go to make the fight actually happen? I really don’t understand why the same pressure that has been applied to Floyd Mayweather to make this happen has not been applied equally to Manny Pacquiao.

The perception that we are told to believe is that Mayweather is a coward and Manny Pacquiao desperately wants the fight and he has agreed to every demand presented by Floyd Mayweather. In my opinion based on what I have seen the reality does not match the perception because I have noticed in these last 5 years the reality is Manny Pacquiao says these things during promotional times in articles and interviews just for promotional purposes because after every fight the question is asked and he always says “It’s up to my promoter.”

Now I know this has been said before and I have opened a can of worms but please bare with me let me remind you all of fighters recently who have talked the talk and actually walked the walk in attempts to make a fight happen that they themselves wanted. Just a few years ago after a two year layoff Floyd Mayweather elected to fight Juan Marquez who just had a great win this past weekend by the way and Mayweather totally dominated him.

The fight was great because of Mayweathers performance after a two year layoff but the icing on the cake was the post fight interview in the ring were Shane Mosley a dangerous welter weight at that time interrupted Mayweather’s interview and verbally challenged Floyd and disrespected him at his own victory speech to make the fight happen and guess what it did. Fast forward now to another dominating fight by another good fighter who dismantled his opponent to the point that the fight was stopped Canelo vs. Angulo.

At the post fight press conference in the middle of Canelo’s victory speech Erislandy Lara steps up to the podium and patiently waits for Canelo to stop talking and basically says Canelo I’m tired of chasing you and I’m tired of waiting everybody wants see a fight between me and you so when will I get my chance and guess what it’s happening now. I will give you one more and this fight hasn’t happened and maybe it won’t but the fact is an attempt was made to go far beyond “just talking” and this fighter is Shannon Briggs.

I know today he is a nobody even though he is making a comeback but the point I’m making is Shannon Briggs went far beyond what was expected to get a fight that he says he wants against Wladimir Klitschko by flying out of the U.S. to attend every promotion, conference, and training session in Klitschkos home. As a fan of Manny Pacquiao at this point I feel like Manny talk is cheap now after five years and how far are you willing to go to make a fight happen that you constantly tell us you want?

When are you (Manny Pacquiao) going to step up and verbally challenge Floyd Mayweather to his face in his home on his turf in front of everyone? Manny Pacquiao stop telling us what we want to hear and instead do what we want to see like sit ringside at a Mayweather fight and intimidate him which you never do or show up at the Mayweather Gym in Las Vegas and challenge him or interrupt Mayweathers interviews constantly challenging him just do something. Today neither Mayweather nor Manny Pacquiao has a fight scheduled which is a perfect opportunity and yet all we hear from Manny is crickets in other words absolutely nothing so how far is Manny Pacquiao willing to go?
