In my opinion, this fight on Saturday is the biggest ever in the UK and just staring at that picture above I find it hard to believe that it will be occupied top-down with screaming UK fans but it’s true. This fight is huge for the UK scene because looking into the future I am hoping it creates an incentive for UK fighters to follow and understand the potential they have to do the same.

As a hardcore boxing fan I don’t want to say that I am bored of some of the current American fighters but to me it’s kind of repetitive and we see and expect the same thing all the time. This rematch between Carl Froch and George Groves is different and has had the UK talking for months and shows what we are capable of. It’s more of a relief that this fight is happening because we have new faces headlining and more generally it’s filled boxing with more excitement.

That’s 80,000 tickets sold within a day. But something I have realized that shows the difference between UK and US boxing fighters is that US fights are just fights and in the UK its an event. No american boxer including Mayweather and Pacquiao is remotely capable of selling out a national arena anywhere. They are great fighters with great PPV numbers but I just don’t see it.

Moving onto the fight itself, I have no pick or prediction going into Saturday. But I am hope-full it will be a great fight. Based on the result from the last fight between Froch and Groves I will not be shocked on any outcome. We have seen the back and forth altercations between the two which is has highlighted a few weaknesses from Groves but even more so strengths from Froch in which we did not see from the first fight.

To summarize, I love this fight and everything that has happened in the build-up and in the first makes it the most exciting boxing event of the year. Carl Froch and George Groves both win or lose have already styled themselves as huge draws for UK fans which carry on into future fights disregarding the outcome.
