Will Groves’ stamina issues come into play against Froch in their rematch?

groves5778By Daven: Recently it emerged that George Groves (19-1, 15 KO’s) has been taking two days off a week for his upcoming fight against IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (32-2, 23 KO’s) on May 31ast at the Wembley Stadium in London, UK. This is absolutely staggering news. He’s supposed to be in his youth and has little history of injury problems yet he can’t work a full schedule? Really shocking to hear if I’m being frank.

Whilst Froch is working in the Rob’s gym in Sheffield Monday-Friday and running whilst back in Nottingham on weekends, Saint George Groves is prancing around London kissing babies and signing autographs for old ladies. Oh yeah he also expends his energy on Twitter abusing Froch, he did the same thing last time and that worked out well didn’t it? Oh wait, he was completely gassed out and on the verge of being rendered unconscious! Froch is mentally tougher now and has basically left Lee, his brother to play the mind games.

It worries me that somebody with major stamina issues can afford to rest for such long periods whilst in camp. How can he maximize his skills and physical condition whilst resting for around 29% of the week? It’s absolutely ridiculous to do such a thing. He had 6 solid rounds against Froch but he and his fans forget that Froch withstood his barrage, I just hope Groves has been working on his boxing skills, he needs to be more elusive and use his jab a lot more. This might make it boring for the fans but would he rather win smart or lose heroically? His stamina will last the 12 rounds should he employ his superior boxing skills wisely, however if he thinks he can genuinely win inside 3 rounds, which seems to be the case, owing to his lack of preparation I believe it’ll be his undoing.

Overall I see Froch winning in 10 rounds via a clean TKO. Groves is not Floyd Mayweather J, he may be promoting himself but he does not have the natural boxing ability nor brain, hence he cannot just work at 70% in training camp! I will close by saying, in the first fight Froch grossly underestimated Groves now however Groves is underestimating the World Champion Carl the Cobra Froch.
