Pacquiao better equipped for Mayweather?

pac00002By Jon Ingram: I’ll start by saying, yes, I’m pro Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather. I feel that it’s only Mayweather fans who claim they don’t want to see him fight Pacquiao, that it would be a waste of time. Would Victor Ortiz, or even Robert Gurrero that Floyd fought in the past be a better competitive match then the Pacquiao of now? Let me explain why I feel that Manny is actually better equipped to face Mayweather now more than ever. Yes, even more then when he was knocking guys out.

Manny Pacquiao getting knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez was the best thing that could’ve happened to Manny. It was a wakeup call, that he can’t just go into every fight with his head down and expect his speed and power to walk through everyone anymore. After that he realized that he will have to rely on his boxing skills, (yes he has them) for he was able to outbox a “prime” American top 3 P4P boxer in Bradly, and he out boxed him clearly two times.

I’m not saying that Pacquiao could out box Floyd, Mayweather might be the most fundamentally sound boxer in the history of the sport. I’m saying that if Pacquiao was to fight a little wilder like he did in the past, Jr being a counter punching God may have had his way, may have, no one really knows. With Pacquiao using his speed, power, foot movement, and his unorthodox style would give Mayweather fits.

People want to claim that Manny stamina was a problem in the Bradley 2 rematch, but it wasn’t. In fact, if he had that amount of conditioning in a Mayweather fight, it would be more than enough to get the job done, if he was capable. When have you ever seen Floyd attack any boxer the way Bradley pressed Manny in the opening six rounds of that rematch? How about never!

Lastly, what I believe will work in Manny’s favor is his size. Floyd lately is used to fighting guys who are bigger than him, with no foot and head movement. Manny would be the smaller guy, like always, and would be a guy that would move his head, and move around the ring more than Mayweather’s last three opponents put together. I feel that if Miguel Cotto could catch Floyd and bust his nose, then I’m positive that Manny would catch him also, but would not tire out, what do you think?
