By Chris Williams: Showtime All Access episode 1 of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO’s) vs. Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO’s) fight preview is coming up in nine days from now on 4/19 at 9:00 PM E/T. After having sat through two of the Manny Pacquiao – Tim Bradley 24/7 episodes on HBO, I’m really looking forward to seeing Mayweather and Maidana show fans how it’s done by bringing some excitement and energy into their fight preview. This should be really compelling TV for fans of the sweet science.

Mayweather is the king of the fight previews, and he’s going to show fans why he’s the most exciting fighter to watch on April 19th on Showtime.
This fight is probably the closest thing that you can get to a Mayweather-Pacquiao match-up, because Maidana is younger than Pacquiao and he’s arguably a better puncher. His fighting style is pure aggression without a backwards step, and I believe this fight will give fans a pretty good idea what Mayweather would do if he were to face the Filipino star.

This is such a good match-up that Mayweather doesn’t even need Pacquiao, because Maidana is the next best thing. He really is. This is a fight that is long overdue, as Maidana has been involved in exciting fights for the past 5 years, and I would rate him right below Mayweather in terms of being the most exciting fighter to watch.

With Robert Garcia as his trainer, Maidana has improved his game considerably in the past year, and he’s now seen as someone that you can put right below Mayweather. I rate Maidana as the second best welterweight in the division right now, and that’s why he’s going to make it so interesting to watch.

Mayweather is a huge favorite to defeat Maidana, but you never know what can happen in boxing. Maidana just proved himself with his win over Adrien Broner, and you’ve got to give him a chance against Mayweather after the kind of performance that Maidana put in. There’s no guarantees in boxing. Maidana will be fighting with every ounce of power he has in his body to try and pull off an upset, and I feel he’s going to make this the most competitive fight that Mayweather has had since his two matches against Jose Luis Castillo over a decade ago.

Maidana has the same kind of forward aggression that Castillo had in his prime, and he’s definitely going to be making Mayweather show his full arsenal of punches in this fight.
