pac234By Alon Calinao Dy: Philippine Pride Manny Pacquiao (55-5-2, 28 KO’s) is going be looking to take away Tim Bradley’s WBO welterweight crown this Saturday on April 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Filipino global icon knows exactly when to quit in the sport of boxing. He knows his time in the ring is not over yet, and he wants to give his boxing fans around the world something to be remembered for a lifetime. He wants the Floyd Mayweather Jr. versus Pacquiao fight to happen in November or early month next year.

Pacquiao cannot leave the sport now because he has unfinished business to be settled out. Perhaps, after he beats Bradley, he would go after Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez for a fifth bout or try to persuade the undefeated American fighter to face him and give the boxing fans what they want to see in the sweet science.

Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach acknowledges that it might be over for the 35-year-old Filipino fighter if he loses to Bradley on Saturday.

“This is a ‘must-win’ situation on Saturday night, and if we don’t win this fight we have to consider maybe retirement,” Roach told the Telegraph Sport. “So this is a big, big fight for him. We are in a ‘must-win’ situation, it’s as simple as that. Some people think we are all done and we have to prove that we are not.”

When Pacquiao defeated Brandon Rios via unanimous decision last November in Macau, it was only the start of everything and the new Pacquiao has a lot of things to show to his supporters . Pacquiao, actually, believes that the old Manny was back. At this point, he is a different fighter and he will show no mercy to his future opponents. That includes, of course, Bradley this coming week.

As usual, there are critics who doubt the ability of the Filipino icon. Although Pacquiao has shown a lot of boxing techniques, his speed and power are still evident. Some viewers are trying to discredit Manny about his declining skills in the ring. For sure, Pacquiao knows exactly when to quit his professional boxing career.
