Keith Thurman vs Julio Diaz(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Rocky Esposito: Tonight the Interim WBA World Welterweight Champion Keith “One Time” Thurman (23-0-0 / 21KOS) defeated former two time IBF lightweight Champion Julio “The Kidd” Diaz (40-10-1 / 5KOs) by a 3rd Round TKO at the great outdoor venue, the Stubhub Center in Carson California.

Julio Diaz coming into this fight 0-2-1 in his last three fights, but those of us who know Boxing can attest that those numbers were extremely misleading. To Diaz’s well deserved credit, he faced top level opponents Shawn Porter twice, and Amir Khan in between. Diaz, and many fans fiercely (and fairly) argue that Diaz actually won 2 of the 3 fights.

Veteran referee Jack Reiss went to the corner after the 3rd Round was over and heard Diaz’s corner arguing. Diaz sustained a body shot from Thurman earlier in the round that was causing too much pain for him to continue. Leading Reiss to stop the fight. During Diaz’s post fight ring interview, he admitted clearly the stoppage was fine, he was in too much pain to go on.

Now, we will wait to see who Keith Thurman will face next. I should not admit it, but I would pay PPV money to see him face IBF Welterweight Champion of the World Shawn Porter (24-0-1). Or, does he can a chance to face Floyd Money Mayweather (45-0-0)? We will see, God Bless!
