By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs showed up shirtless with a large pie at IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s final weigh-in with Alex Leapai. The security stopped Briggs from entering the facility with the pie. Briggs said he wanted to give the pie to Wladimir, but the security wasn’t going to take any chances with Briggs having a large pie in his hands while watching Wladimir weigh-in. Earlier this week, Briggs threw his t-shirt at Wladimir at the final press conference with Leapai.

The shirt missed Wladimir, but almost hit Leapai. Last month Briggs showed up one of Wladimir’s workouts in the U.S. Briggs started shouting at Wladimir and ended up tossing a shoe at him, which hit Wladimir in the chest. With these two previous incidents, it’s not surprising that the German security weren’t going to let Briggs come to the final weigh-in with a pie in his hands.

It would have looked bad if Briggs nailed Wladimir in the face with the pie. It would have entertaining but a little embarrassing if your Wladimir. Given Briggs’ poor aim earlier this week when throwing things, he might have hit Leapai with the pie if he had started chucking it.

Briggs turned out to be the most entertaining part of the entire weigh-in, as Wladimir was his normal emotionless self, and Leapai was totally low ley as well. What was interesting is that instead of throwing Briggs out of the weigh-in for heckling Wladimir, the German security ended up posing with pictures with Briggs. It was hilarious how Briggs took over the entire room and completely upstaged Wladimir. Heck, Briggs was the only entertaining part about the entire weigh-in. Wladimir did absolutely nothing to make it interesting. Even the music he walked out with was the same old Red Hot Chili Peppers song that Wladimir has been using for his entrance music for years. There was nothing new or interesting about the weigh-in but Briggs.
