Saul Alvarez – Adrien Broner – Danny Garcia. Business wise or Family loyalty?

canelo7767By Gerardo Granados: Was it necessary for Danny Garcia to have struggled that much against Mauricio Herrera or could it be possible that if he had have a savvy corner he would have adjusted in order to win convincingly instead of have lost in the eyes of many boxing fans? Garcia is a talented fighter but he might have reached the limit for his trainer to improve his overall boxing skills and if Herrera had been a power puncher instead of a light hitting boxer then Danny could have lost the fight even by stoppage.

Other young lions have struggled and lost his recent fights; Adrien Broner was beaten by brave pressure fighter Marcos Maidana who previously lost to good boxers. Maybe “the problem” was that Adrien thought he could walk down Maidana just as he did when he was a super feather or lightweight, but definitely he had the wrong game plan and never was able to adjust to surpass a brawler using is superior speed and mobility or by establishing a crisp jab. Days after the fight he was offered to be trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr. but Adrien failed to take advantage to improve his boxing skills and stayed loyal to his family.

Saul Alvarez was simply outsmarted in every boxing aspect, Canelo tried to outbox Floyd and when Mayweather Jr. stayed put and trade he was surprised and clueless on what to do to adjust and his corner was simply unable to tell him what to do. Alvarez stayed too frontal and tried the same thing round after round and got hit with the same combinations round after round. When the fight ended he looked like a limited pressure fighter, maybe if he had been trained by Ignacio Beristain or Freddie Roach he could have done better.

Three of the most talented young lions who could dominate their weight division haven’t looked really good in their last bout but there is a chance for them to become a dominant force if they finally decide to hire an elite trainer that will be able take them to the next level, instead to stay loyal to his family team and trainers who have brought them so far, but it seems that they have teach their pupils all they know and it might be the right time for them to decide to take a business wise decision so they can take advantage of his full potential.

If the reader was the one to decide which would be his choice, business wise or family loyalty?
