By Jim Dower: Undefeated super bantamweight Abdul “Kid Galahad” Barry Awad (16-0, 8 KO’s) stayed unbeaten with a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision win over a badly overmatched Sergio Prado (9-4-1, 3 KO’s) on Saturday night to capture the vacant European 122lb title at the Ponds Forge Arena, Sheffield, UK. The final judges’ were 117-111, 118-110, and 120-108.

Galahad hit Prada with a lot of heavy shots, but the Spaniard to his credit took them. Galahad showed good power and excellent defensive skills and making Prado look really bad.

40-year-old former IBF light welterweight champion Junior Witter (42-7-2, 22 KO’s) dominated a hopefully outclassed journeyman Max Maxwell (16-41-3, 3 KO’s) by a 6 round unanimous decision. Witter won the by score 60-54. Witter has seen better days in his career, but he’s still capable of fighting better opposition than this. The victory for Witter ends his 2-fight losing streak. He was beaten by Timo Schwarzkopf and Frankie Gavin in back to back fights.

Former EBU light heavyweight champion Danny McIntosh (14-6, 7 KO’s) was halted in the 3rd round by Travis Dickinson (16-1, 6 KO’s) in a fight for the vacant vacant BBBofC English light heavyweight title. The loss for McIntosh, 34, was his 5th in his last 6 fights. It might be a sign that McIntosh should think about retiring. Dickinson knocked McIntosh down three times in the fight in putting him down once in the 1st and twice in the third before the bout was halted.
