Fury flips table at press conference with Chisora

fury66By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight Tyson Fury (22-0, 16 KO’s) went berserk at the press conference with Dereck Chisora (20-4, 13 KO’s) to promote their July 26th rematch at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom. Fury got to his feet when it came time for him to talk, and after a brief comment where he bragged himself being the best heavyweight in the division, he overturned a table filled with glasses, and then stormed out of the press conference in a huff.

Needless to say, it was very, very bizarre behavior and one has to guess that Fury might be feeling the case of the nerves now that he’s fighting an improved and in shape Chisora.

“I’m Tyson Fury, the best heavyweight in the planet,” Fury said moments after snatching the microphone and needlessly standing up to tower over the sitting Chisora. “This idiots getting knocked the spark out. This mother f***** is going to sleep”

At that point, Fury put the microphone down, and then overturned the table in a dramatic Errol Flynn type of manner, and then strutted out of the press conference as if he’d accomplished something. Yes, it was very weird, and it just made Fury look slightly unbalanced. I’m glad that he didn’t go after Chisora at that point because I didn’t see any capable security personal nearby to jump on Fury and restrain him if he got physical.
Chisora will be defending his EBU heavyweight strap in this fight, and the vacant British belt will also be up for grabs for the fight.

Those two trinkets aren’t what these guys are really after. What they really want is to win so that they can become the WBO mandatory to champion Wladimir Klitschko. That at least will give the winner of the Chisora-Fury II fight a good payday in 2015, if nothing else. I mean, I don’t see either of these guys as having even a ghost of a chance at beating Wladmir, so what we’re really talking about here is a fight that is picking out a future victim for Wladimir to beat up on and clown before knocking one of them out.
