Does Manny Pacquiao have enough left to beat Bradley?

pac01By Yannis Mihanos: In the last few years the inability of Manny Pacquiao to finish  matches in spectacular fashion by the way of knockout has been one of the favorite topics in various websites, magazines, and on TV. Some they blame it on his recent election as a congressman for his native country, while some others believe his best is forever gone and that he is now old; some also accuse him of using in the past steroids. So there all kinds of reasons good and bad available but I am not here to judge.

In boxing there are two ways of winning, one is through a knockout and one is through a points decision. While there are both good for the fighter as victory is the main purpose they are not Always good for the fans. Boxing fans around the world always demand something more, something to talk about, something to remember: A knockout.

A knockout win is always in the best headlines. Point decision rarely makes the headlines unless it comes with some controversy. One decision like that happened in the first encounter of Timothy Bradley and Manny Pacquiao in June of 2012. Last Saturday people also talked about the match of Danny Garcia and Mauricio Herrera with their controversial points decision.

So I think it’s natural  that people question Pacquiao for not winning strongly by knockout. Yesterday, Pacquiao posted on his personal blog the following: “I still have the killer instinct. I am not afraid of using my power and go for the knockout. But I will remember the lesson I learned from Manuel Marquez. Knockouts should come naturally you should not force them.”

In my experience as an athlete and as a pure boxing fan, I would say that a can’t lose his killer instinct, especially coming from gifted fighters.

On April 12, in Las Vegas, Nevada, some questions will be answered and some others will rise when Pacquiao and Bradley meet for the 2nd time.
