By Dan Ambrose: Former WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo (35-5, 18 KO’s) says that Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) will be making a mistake if he overlooks him in their fight on May 3rd on the Mayweather-Maidana undercard. Khan seems to be taking the fight very seriously though, and with what’s at stake, a big money cash out fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., you can’t blame Khan.

Khan hasn’t shown the talent in his last four fights to overlook anyone, especially someone that sits down on their punches like Collazo does. If Khan loses this fight then he’s done for. There won’t be a Mayweather fight, and he’ll be left trying to pick up the broken pieces of his shattered career.

“If Amir Khan is overlooking me that’s on him, I’ll be ready come May 3rd,” Collazo said. “When I wasn’t having big fights, it was bringing down, but this last year has been so amazing to me. I’m grateful. “I was depressed when I wasn’t in big fights, but when u leave everything in God’s hands anything is possible. In the Ricky fight I learned anything can happen. In the Victor Ortiz fight I learned don’t leave it to the judges. Collazo is back!”

Khan: “I didn’t take time off, I’ve been training hard and there will be no excuses, I will be ready. I know that Andre Berto fought Luis Collazo but at the end of the day it’s me in the ring. I’ll do my homework. Styles make fights in boxing, my fight vs Luis Collazo will be very exciting and very fun to watch! When Collazo stopped Victor Ortiz, he showed he has got power, speed and movement, it’s going to be a great fight. I’m going to put on a great performance and it’s going to be a great fight for the crowd to watch.”

Some boxing fans think Khan is over the hill since the beating he took in his fight with Marcos Maidana in 2010. He’s not done well in any of his fights against quality [read: non-shot] opposition since then.
